Low cost ESM- Electronic Selector Module needed
Yes the title is an oxymoron when you are talking about Mercedes Benz parts, but I figured I would give it a try.
This is the vehicle that needs it:
2000 Mercedes C280 Sport Edition
VIN: WDBHA29G2YA847571
My existing module has an unclearable P1817-2 code so I am looking for a new or used module.
The current module part number is 202-267-054
The module Mercedes is selling to replace it is 202-267-08-24
The lowest cost I have found so far is $454.80 from MercedesPartsDelivered.com.

If you have this part that you can part with for less please let me know.
Regards,

Yes, possibly, if they've pulled the part out for you, but not at a pick n pull.
You have to do some "physical searching", if you want to keep your daughter's first born.

Trouble shooting selector sensor.
This info was not available on WIS since the pot is not considered a servicable item. I reverse engineered it for anyone else dealing with this issue.
Better pic
Testing shown on pins 3 and 4 per my schematic not sure what actual pin numbers are

SOLVED THIS CONDITION!
Apparently there is normal leakage current in the reverse lights that if you do not have your reverse lights installed, the P1817-2 will be set.
So you can read the voltage present with a multimeter as I did, but if you check it with a test light it will drain the voltage and drop the code.
Long story short. If you have a P1817-2 code in a w202 C280 chances are you have both reverse bulbs missing or blown.
I purchased new bulbs and the problem went away.
