I think I'm going to hardwire my escort 8500 in my c230, any tips before I pull it apart. I'm not going to be doing it, I'll be learning, but what tips can I give? The guy has a bimmer that will be helping me.

thanks

Easy to do..

I have hardwired the 8500 in all four of my cars: 99 CLK, 05 C55, 04 911 turbo, and 04 Range Rover. Very easy to do. No need to even buy the hardwire kit. You can use a standard phone cord.

If you need more details, let me know.

yeah, you just neet a phone wire, do get the power from the rearview mirror? I have a 40W soldering iron, and I can solder very well, just don't know how to take apart the car to get power

Actually, I just ran the wire between the headliner and the roof, down the side of the windshield, to the fuse box.

I'm in the same situation- I'm installing a remote whistler 3300 in my c280 and I'm having trubs hooking up the power.

I understand that I can either tap the cigarette lighter or hook it up to a seperate fuse outlet in the fuse box (slot #10 since it is vacant).

Okay, so I've tried to hook it up both the cig. lighter and the fuse box, but neither seems to be working- I'm doing something wrong. I am not an electronics wizard, so you'll have to help me with this.

--The black is the ground wire- so I can connect it to any part of the frame of the car-right?
--The red wire is the +, so where in the empty fuse socket do I plug it?
the wire for the unit has a built in fuse, so I don't need to mess with that stuff.

any help is appreciated.
give me answers and I will give you pictures
