Special Spark Plug Wrench?

Twice now I have had a problem at about 1/2 a tank of fuel (93 oct), while accelerating from 75 to 85 passing...A stutter and then it runs rough for a few starts with the CEL on. Today I took the car to AutoZone where they diagnosed a "cyl 2 misfire" and recommended I get new plugs. I don't know if they have ever been changed, so I bought a new set of platinum plugs. I go to change the plug to only find out that my spark plug socket won't fit. Is there a special tool? My took kit was misssing some tools when I bought the car was that in there?

What year what engine? I use a regular spark plug socket on most of the Mercedes I work on. Make sure you are getting the basic plug required for your car. If a copper plug is called for, use that. If a platinum plug is required, don't go with +2 or +4. Make sure your plug wires are run properly after installing plugs.

1999 C230 Kompressor, I just bought the Bosch platinum plugs that have the 4 electrodes on it... How would I determine which plugs my car is supposed to use?

You can find the proper plug information in varying places on various models. Under the hood, in the owner's manual, at the dealership, etc.

I recommend against the plugs with the four electrodes on them (+4).

Personal preference based on the experience of poor performance after installation of +4 plugs. Especially in both the I4 and I6 engines, as well as to a lesser extent in the M112/M113 engines.

Wow! you were quite right. On your recomendation I exchanged the plugs for the factory plugs (Bosch F 7 KTCR). I found out that a regular spark plug socket worked fine, and that I was using too big of a plug wrench . I pulled the old plugs which was a bosch platinum, toasted to a light brown. Replaced with what was recommended and zoom worked great! thanks
