I'm glad you have so many cars... many of which were mad before you were 10, why dont u trade them in and get like an E class or somthing besides early w202 baby benz?

I'm not nockin on mercedes they make good cars, but i dont feel i should choice the mercedes on the shear fact that people might think I'm rich like you suggest. Right now i want a car that car preform, and with my current situation, i believe the cl is a better car.

Are you gonna try to tell me that a mercedes is gonna be more reliable, if they were both driven aggresively?

Alright

Alright, I've seen enough of this garbage. I refuse to let a thread on which I posted go to trash like this. If you two want to fight about who's richer or who's got better cars, do it through email or by instant message. Don't waste people's time and the space on this forum. It's totally inappropriate, not to mention meaningless. Who cares what car your parents drive? Who cares if Marino chose the acura? It was his decision to make. I personally don't agree with it, but I wish him luck with his new car. Euro, I realize you're proud of having nice cars at a young age, as I myself am a young man with a Benz. The bottom line is, this forum is NOT the place to argue about garbage like this. I'm not trying to offend either of you, or act as a policeman, but from now on follow the old rule from the bar. "take it outside"

Interesting thread! I feel somewhat a need to comment, as I have a 1999 c280 sport 33k miles, 1995 Acura Legend LS coupe 45k miles, and a 1999 Acura RL3.5 40K miles. All in MINT MINT MINT condition. Although the Acura's are more reliable, they just don't drive as well as the Benz. Not only the front wheel drive torque steer that both seem to have, but also ergonomically the c280 is far superior. I notice this when closing the doors, putting on the seatbelt, etc. The Acura's don't put their controls in the most logical spots either. i.e. headlamps, wipers, etc. Also, the c280 has an 8 way passenger side power seat, where as the Acura's only have 4 way power on the passenger side. And, on the Rl3.5, the rear side windows don't go all of the way down. But the Acura's don't have any squeeks or rattles..unlike the Benz. I could care less about prestige. In the case of the 1994 c280, or 1999 cl 3.2, I'd take the Acura, sell it...and get a decent Benz with the money. The 1994 c280 is just too old to offer the kind of reliability I would need. ps, I'm trading the RL3.5 in on a new e320 as soon as the warrantee is up.

marino, didn't you post this thread to get honest opinions from other people in this forum?

if you don't like what others have to say, than you shouldn't have started the thread. Don't be so hostile towards the members.

I wanted to hear opinions, i read several opinions and they made me think about all valid points. However, when euro calls me an idiot, and feels that he needs to tell me his w202 is a so much faster, even though i dont give a fu(k and his car is not an option. Then procedes to tell everyone how rich he is, (he's 18 y.o with 60,000 worth of early 90's mercedes) and how being in an acura would make me look like a mexican or that i would rice out the mercedes is just fu*kin stupid

Damn.....its been a while. Well to comment on the original post, Marino, take it from me, I'm 20 and I'm in college. I love my c class dearly, I worked hard for it and in my opinion they are great cars over all. HOWEVER, they are a real b!tch to try and keep up when your between your **** *** part time job
(i don't know if you work or not or if you like your job but i frickin hate mine)
and all your classes. So from a realistic point of view from one college student to another, go with the Acura. Who gives a **** about style and class when you're in college. College girls are easy anyways. No one cares what you drive. Besides all the *******s driving 89 buicks or something similar park their cars literally inches away from yours, leaving you searching for new dents constantly. So if its practicality your looking for, go with the Acura. Benz's are nice, but lets face it, they don't exactly keep your wallet full. If you need any other advice, let me know.

Also, Euro, you said you had a right hand drive Benz from Germany, just to let you know, they have left hand drive cars in Deutchland just like us here in the good old USA so it couldn't have been from germany. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to call BS until I see some pics

Thanks, I'm just trying to give you a reasonable, realistic standpoint from someone whose in the same situation. I've often considered getting rid of my c class (pics on page 52 in the 202 pic thread) just because its hard to own a benz, pay bills and work part time, not to mention with no help from my parents (accept tuition, my dad pays that, thank the good lord. but i live in an apartment which I pay for).

but I am starting to question Euro's comments.........Aside from the right hand drive c class.....I also want to know where you got your renntech supercharger for a c280. I got on renntechs website and could not find such a blower, accept for a unit for the c43 which you don't have. You also say you are going to reid to be a doctor I presume if you wish to afford a maybach, well in previous posts, you claim to be a Mercedes tech. It's kind of hard to go to school full time to be a doctor and be a full time mercedes tech (you need certification to be an MB tech, which takes schooling and experience) but you're only 18 and just graduated HS. You also said you had a 76 240d with like 319k miles on the clock. But in this thread, its a diffenent benz, like a 62 sl530 with 234k miles on it. Thats just my curiosity though....... When I see some proof, I'll gladly apologize and take back all accusations of BS (i promise)

This is an easy decision. Get the Acura. I drive a '99 C280 Sport which had 66K miles when I purchased it. When the Benz needs a repair (and it will), it will cost you. The Acura is less expensive to repair, and arguably more reliable to begin with. I love my Benz, but if I was in College (assuming you have no major source of income), I would get the Acura. It is a fast and smooth car that you will enjoy.

Heck, you are only a sophomore in college. You've got plenty of time to get your Benz a little bit down the road from now.

Wow....how you freshmen and sophomore will be so quickly disappointed at the real world when you graduate from college.

In terms of med school - you realize you won't be makeing your $120,000 - $250,000 salary until after 4 years of college, 4 years of med school, another 3 years of residency. so say 10-12 years total - sorry but at 25 you'll still be in medical school or finishing up residency making $35-$38K a year. And when you do make that much money, you will be paying anywhere from $50,000 - $70,000 for medical mal practice insurance depending on your area of practice and where you practice. Of course, in order to make enough to buy yourself a Maybach, you'd hvae to be a really great surgeon - and surgeon's medical malpractice insurance can run you up to $100K a year in someplaces.

This is ofcourse after you sink what close to $200K in tuition....

Best of luck to you! I'm not saying you can't do it. Maybe you can and maybe you wont, but make sure you know what you are talking about. ITS not that simple to make $$$$$$$$ as you do when you are still young.

O and one more thing - Reid college...sorry not a 1st tier national university. so than you're going to have to work really really really really really...(sigh)....really really really really (take breath)..really really hard in school to get good grades and do well on your mcats to be able to get into a nationally recognized medical school to get into the top residency program to get that awesome doctor job to buy your Maybach, which if you work hard enough, I'm sure you can (no joke), but I am pretty sure it won't be by 25 that you'll be able to purchase with your own money.
