I was gonna say something along those same lines, but didn't really think it was worth the time to "puncture his balloon", he was on a such a good tirade.

Well, its a holiday week and I really don't have much to do at work and was getting bored, so i thought it might nice to bring him down a littler closer to earth.

don't get me wrong, i'm not saying he can't ever do it....just not by 25 (unless he wins the lottery)

I am also a Pre-med (having just applied for medical school). Something that is not normally mentioned is the cost just to apply. The AMCAS, the only place you can apply from to many different schools costs 120$ for the first school, then 30$ for each school beyond that, add that to the 200$+ for the MCAT, then if you make the first cut they ask you for a secondary application that runs 50$ -$100 per school. Most people apply to more than 5 schools and most people do not make it in the first time around. Comming from a lesser named school (as in my case, even with high grades and MCATs) makes getting in even harder. College takes 4 years of making nearly straight A's just to be competitive during application. It is nearly impossible to keep a job that pays nearly anything since med schools want to see all your extra volunteer work! As for me, if I make it in, the medical school is 4 years (at $50k a year add more if out of state or private), then residency for a specialized surgeon (cardiovascular or neuro) will take another 6-8 years (only making around $45-50k a year). So thats another 12 years added to my life.. So I will hopefully be 34 before I can practice and start to make the "big" money. If you take into account the falling reimbursement rates from insurance in the US... you know your salary will not be what it is today. Personally, I think there are easier ways to make money than being a physician. Plus if your in this all just to make money, med school interviews generally do not accept people who they feel are into just making money.

I think this thread has turned into a Pre-med/life advice thread way off the topic. But, I thought I would at least let people know the whole process a pre-med has to go through...and the costs.

MARINO!!! long time no talk to...i was in greece for a month and havn't been able to write...sorry...n-e-wayz--> whats up with all the hostility? it is purely simple, *** face Euro94c280 is a whiney chump B*TCH with nothing better to do with his time than talk about the money and friends he DOESNT have! next in line he cant figure out what he is, a mercedes tech at the age of 18?? or a med student at a school that sounds like it hires bums off the street to teach their classes...i mean c'mon if your gonna lie you might as well do it right! say Yale or Harvard, you could've pulled something better out of that lyin' *** of yours! Thirdly...this is to you EURO94C280 i am positive that your cars are not worth $60K...in fact i guarantee it! with that many miles your lucky if they'll give you $35K for ALL of them...so put up some pics. of these "extravagant" rides of yours or SHUT THE F*CK UP!

p.s. as my dad always says to me...an empty garbage can makes loud noises when you hit it, but a full one doesn't...if anybody needs help understanding that *ahem* Euro94c280...just ask and i'll explain...

p.s.s. as a car get the benz...but as a every day college car go with the acura!! IMO :p

I personally take offense in the above post. grkpnpm69, Would you care to qualify what exactly you mean by "fagface"? This is totally not cool.

Of course i would, if anyone took offense to that i am sorry, if you are "gay" that is your decision and your business, i have nothing against you or people of your kind...i did not directly say that to you so you should not take offence to it...but that just IMO ...hopefully you have the will power to get over it and realize that it is not directed to you and its not like no one ever uses the word "***" so why should i be the first one to start. i have gay friends both male and female and i go to the gay pride parade in chicago with them every year...its not like i hate them and call them names...so, in closing i apologize to you Palm Beach Benz and all of the others that i have offended...Have a great day

wow....its been a while for me. I guess everyone caught on to what i was bringing up. Thanks all you med guys for pointing all that stuff out. Just a side note, I knew that malpractice insurance was bad, but I never knew just how bad. Also I never knew how hard you have to work to be a doctor and just how $$$$$$$$$$ it is to become one. My hats off to you guys for the effort. As for me, I'll stick to my international business degree....(not obtained yet but working on it)

Marino, give us some pics of the car you decided on. Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone
