Which Would U Rather Drive!
Guys,
I got an option between keeping my newly aquired:
1994 Mercedes C 280, perfect conditon (drivin by an old lady .... still has orginal brake pads) w/ 68k miles
(I plan on putting 18 inch amg knock-off wheels, S600 grill,
and clear corners and a stereo system very soon)
Or getting a
2001 Acura Cl Type S with around 50k miles.
Which would you rather drive and own . The Acura is pretty damn fast (260 Horse) and it's newer, but a Mercedes, a clean one at that, is a Mercedes!
I'm a Sophmore in college (Texas State, San Marcos)

wow dude your an idiot lol , i would rather drive a C280 over any acura even a Evolution Nsx, the style is perfect "rich Euro", nicest car brand in the world... just like saying would u rather drive a 1976 Rolls or a 2003 Mustang.... obviously the rolls and mercedes as a brand and class wise is as nice as rolls... man, so my overall answer is keep your 280, its the nicest brand of car u could have without being a millionaire.

Remember what forum you're on man- If you went to an Acura forum you'd hear the crys in favor of the Jap sport sedan. I have to agree with everyone here though- I realize that the CL has more Hp and is newer, but remember one thing: MB is a symbol of quality, not just in the U.S., or Europe, but all over the world. The only way I would get the Cl is if you thought you could re sell it to buy a newer/better benz. (a c36 or C43 AMG perhaps?)

I'm gonna buck the trend here and go with the Acura cause it's newer and Honda makes a good car, a 2001 Accord just saved my friend's life (see OT forum for pics).

I would keep the C. A friend of mine just got rid of his Acura and bought a New E320. According to him, he would never go back to Acura. If you are still unsure, test drive both cars and choose the one you like best. I have driven an Acura and decided that I just like the Mercedes better, but I am a die hard Mercedes fan.

I guess it really depends on what you are looking for?
If you want to be practical and have fun driving - go with the Acura.Can't beat it. I drive a 99 c280 sport right now and I love it, but it falls way behind in the fun factor against my 1999 Acura Integra 5 spd manual with turbo.
For 1 thing - Acura's reliability cannot be beat! You can floor that thing at every red light and it won't break down... The older Mercedes, I donno - I don't feel comfortable flooring my C and driving it like a rice rocket -- scared it might break down.
So if you want low maintenance and ownership cost and you drive a lot and need dependability with a fun factor -- I say go with the CL. (The CL does have a respectable level of luxury and comfort as well).
But if you want classy - go with the c class.
If it was me....unless that C class came with starmarked warranty, I wouldn't touch it. Just can't beat Acura reliability.
Lastly, since you are in college (this was me, but donno about you), you're probably gonna wanna fix it up right? Think about the cost of modifying your car. Much more cheaper to mod a Acura properly than an MB. You are talking a few hundred bucks to mod an Acura properly as opposed to like a $1000 to mod a MB.

most of us would not have the dilemna; if you're really torn......you should drive the Honda...er...Acura.

SJCTROJAN can u read, who said anything anout having a rice rocket, amg wheels, s600 grille and clear corners do not constitute a rice rocket 
I have decided to get the acura cl type s becasue it is so fast(0-to-60 in the 6's) it's much more reliable and cheaper up keep while still being rather classy. I dont plan on doing anything to it except maybe springs and subs. I think my mom is gonna drive the mercedes for a while she is driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee right now and is tired of the S.U.V. So all of you with the new chrys... mercedes enjoy!

hey dude i have a 1997 C280 "Kompressor", well a renntech stage two dual screw Kompressor, but anyways i could take your Cl.. with no problem, with 13.7 times u better be packing alot more than a mexican luxury CL bro lol

did i say your were mexican dude?, No is said an Acura is a low class car , therfor made for low class people. Mercedes were made for wealthy ppl. In the eyes of the public they see a teenage kid driving a mid 70's 240D (for example), or a kid driving an acura with everythign done to it. most people will presume that the kid in the older mercedes is wealthy, we all know the acura is much more money , but mercedes is a show of money and class no matter how much it costs or what year it is.... enough said .. and yes i did run 13.7 at PIR this summer.

Why is everyone tring to compare there car to a CL type S, the fact is I have an option of a regular C280 (not rentech..... assclown), and a Cl type S. The cl is ***** load faster and its faster than most w202's if you wanna get technical about it. So while i like mercedes and would rather have a newer one , I would rather have a cl type s in my situation. I like to hear yall's opinions but dont sit here and tell me a c55 is faster, cuz thast not an option.

well dude i think my favorite bodystyle is w202... so i dont know why u say "an older one", they are newer and nice and still have a european boxy figure to them that we all love. i have prolly about around 26k into mine , could have a w203 for that price, but chose not to, but dotn get me wrong , your probably an italian fat kid that hasnt worked on a car in your life..

yeah you could have a w203 ...
just think you could have had a c320 (the big engine) with a whoping 215 hp, then pay for xenons, pay for matallic paint, pay for leather. End up spending $45,000. Mercedes makes a solid car, but i dont want to be in a 1994 that is going to need constant upkeep, thats gonna cost an arm and a leg. The acura gives me 260 hp, xenons, all the toys, and a great deal of dependability and a good deal of luxury. I guess i'm secure in my prestige level with out it? Frankly i laugh at the kids in their 15 year old mercedes thinkin they are cool especially when it's broken down on the side of the road.

oh really?, i realyl havent ever sen a mercedes broke down on the side of a road.. sorry dude. but i know that i have a 1962 sl530 and it has 234k miles on it and i can bet your *** it drives better than your acura. and for that matter it puts out a whopping. 278hp and would kill your Cl well..

i have my 97.. which i was talking about, and a 94c280 from Deutschland, right hand drive, with stock 3 piece MbZ wheels with a 2" offset, only 34k miles on it as well... the funny thing is im only 18...=)
