Thanks for not answering my question.

I'm happy with my springs and that's all that matters. So what if my shocks need to be replaced, I'll just buy coilovers now. Yes, it would end up costing me more, but the fact is if I didn't buy springs, I would have been on stilts for the whole summer. I'd rather spend a little more money and be lowered for the time being and then get coilovers later on when I have the money for them. But then again, that's just ME.

I think this quote applies to you:

i was well aware that my shocks would give sooner or later with the springs.
i didn't think that everyone was lying to me and that my shocks were invincible. when the time comes, then i'll go with coilovers. i dont see what the big deal is. springs are indeed a 'quick fix' for someone thats eager to get a drop. if you're the guy thats been saving up $150 for half a year and can finally afford a drop (aka springs), then no they arent for you. but if you buy them knowing that you'll have to upgrade shocks or the whole suspension, i dont consider that owned.

once again, that was just my opinion and not any smartass remark to anything, so dont even try to interpret it that way

Unless that PM is an invite to our next meet, you may want to consider refraining from sharing all of your vast knowledge, and henceforth backing it down a notch or two.

New dampers all ‘round with any spring upgrade FTW.

Is the 2006 C55 the same suspension setup as the 2006 C230?

doubt they would fit

I saw someone in the classifieds selling their h&r springs cut half a coil in the front for like 170....

have you gone with the shorter spring pads yet? I believe it's roughly .25" for every number you go down.

You've been around long enough to know how silly it would be to put E class springs on a C. Even if they actually FIT, they are two very DIFFERENT cars that weigh DIFFERENT amounts and require DIFFERENT spring rates and handle (you guessed it) DIFFERENT. AKA: Don't do it.

yeah i tired it today, worked fine. took them off and cut .5 of a coil on my tiens to reinstall. Looks great both ways, post pics later.

What's "mucho" dinero, though? Lowering springs are not that expensive at all.

Like TruTaing pointed out, if you want to go the "cheap" route, you can buy the used H&R springs w/ 1/2 coil cut and be done with it.

2007 C230 sport
lowering question

i know this has been covered a couple of times but im still semi confused. i have a 2007 c230 sport sedan and want to lower it. im going to have 19's on it. just wondering what spring would work the best for the stance. i looked at teins site it says the springs only lower half an inch for a 03-05. h n r's site says 1.4/1.3. etc can someone please enlighten me? i know that the older c's sit higher and that my yr c has amg springs that sit a little lower than say a c240 so im confused as to which springs will work best. i dont want the 4x4 fender gap but i know springs only go so low for stock shocks/struts. coilovers isnt an option at the moment either. thanks for anyone that can help me on this its greatly appreciated.

Try and save up for a C/O kit. It'll be better in the long run.

2007 230 uses same setup since 2005 model.

The R&D for TEIN was done prior to 2006-2007 models, but...it's based on updated sport suspension from my 2004.5 230k ss. Those will give you what you will need, but if you don't want it too low, go with H&R or Eibach. The drop rate they indicate is based on the luxury springs, not updated sport springs.

Just a quick question, how much of a difference is there between the TEIN and the Eibach?
