When I had Eibach in my car, my rear was a lot lower than my front

So anyway I will put up a few pic's of the car. I have been given the task of making a bog standard C180 Desirable, and ready for sale. So far
Very standard :

Now fitted with the Eibach Pro kit and 18" wheels

And you can see the rear problem as she sits like a tractor :

Front :

The car is now having the kit fitted, will post new pics of rear set up once I fit the 5mm spring pads, or shims as the dealer calls them

Yeah it is starting to take shape, I have 2x C class to do in the next few weeks. This one we have had in stock for over a year, petrol cars are hard to get rid off over here Originally Posted by nibo83

The next one is a 220CDI, will probably use the Eibach's again and have the 5mm spring pads at the ready
I can only asume that thats what the problem is with the rear, the biggest size spring pads, cant wait to get the new ones to see how much of a difference they make, I hope that it will balance the car out nice.
It is having a Reiger kit fitted at the minute, so in the end it should turn out well (Hopefully), ohhh and the black handles painted and that reminds me cause I havent told the bodyshop to do that yet

OK so I'm puzzled. If you go to the Tein website and look at the data the spring rates on their coilovers are all listed at 336/448 lbs/inch (front/rear) for all models (sedan and coupe).
The springs (if you just get the lowering springs) are listed at 146/476 lbs/inch for the sedan and wagon and 112/453 lbs/inch for the coupe.
This maybe a newb question but why are the fronts seemingly so soft compared to the coilovers? I understand coilovers will be stiffer - but X2?? and the rears stay at about the same rate. Is this right or is this a mistake in their data?

sparkyireland,
You're car has so many little subtle differences from the US spec cars...
Black handles
Different Grille
No chrome on the impact strips around the car
Its interesting to see. I really like how people on the other side of the pond get the no chrome impact strips all the way around the car!

well, the purpose of the TEIN springs is for look. They are probably within specs of the stock springs except shorter. The coilover is performance oriented hence stiffer rate up front helps the handling aspect.Originally Posted by tj40

This really is a bog standard model, c180 classic, I think only classic models come here with no chrome and the black handles. It didnt have much going for it untill I was given the challenge to make her nice Originally Posted by TruTaing

I am not gonna even post a pick of the interior, blue cloth with wallnut

The good thing is that the car is a one owner car and the last owner was an old gentleman, so it is like brand new. Its hard to believe that we have had it in stock for over a year, no one wants it. I work in the family car business and run the workshop so my dad sent this too me and told me to do what I wanted with it so it can be sold, so I ordered wheels, Reiger kit and springs as you would

I am hoping to have all work completed early in the week so I will post up some pics of the transformation

Hi i am thinking to buy the following tein coiler over kit:
http://www.k1motorsport.com/mb/suspension.htm
at 769.00$ there is only one, tein basin coil over.
Please tell me what you think. cuz i dont want to do a mistake. also i dont want to spend to much, so i thaught it was a good choice.
let me know what you think and if they are easy to install. meaning do any car garage install coil overs or you need to go to a specialist for installation.
thks so much guys.

i would recommend going to a specialist for install.

Installed H&R coilover ... the next day my sway bar link broke... Yes I know other than to fix it, any advice, opinions, and best place to get another one or is there another option?
As far as the H&R coilover install, I really like where it's sittin at the moment considering I'm on stock rims and hopefully make an adjustment when i get rims. My sway bar link came loose and bent probably when i put it in reverse.
Thanks guys!

You'll get that sometimes.
It's time to replace 'em with better parts...http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=230051
Before you do, ensure that their failure was not caused by any mechanical interference.

I just installed mine this weekend as well. I wasnt happy with how high the rears sat so I may get some lower perch pads to help lower it. It's at it's lowest setting already and is still too high. I can get two fingers underneath the rear fender

BTW, my friend did remove his spring perches (H&R as well) and his rears were tucked in really bad..You barely could see his rear tires's sidewall..No rubbing in his case tho
Maybe you should try to remove the pads first..
Check out the pics of his car..His nickname here is SEXPHERE

No spacers ... and undecided at the moment on which rims. I really like the Monoblock VI's but in high polished finish! I'm in no hurry though.

If you're talking about the spring pads, they aren't supposed to be used with c/o's at all. At the lowest setting, H&R's should give you a drop in the rear where your tires are tucked behind the fender.Originally Posted by moosejaw

First and Third pics are the rears. The backs have settled a little since Saturday and now I can fit one finger in

Have you seen the pics of how low Steve's wagon was? Maybe yours are set to the HIGHEST setting instead of the lowest. Something aint right bro. Originally Posted by moosejaw

They are at their lowest setting, could it be bc it is a wagon they sit higher?
what your saying is right, Turbos16lbs car with the same setup and his rear sits lower than mine.

Not a chance. If they're all the way down you should barely be able to see the sidewall of your tire. Make sure the spring pads were removed during installation.Originally Posted by moosejaw

Sounds like either the spring pads were left in or were installed upside down.Originally Posted by Blake P
