Here's a good article on sway bars.
http://www.stealthtdi.com/SwayBars.html

It was after reading this I went with a bigger rear bar.

Before you do anything, measure the existing bars.
I would swear I read somewhere the AMG bars were included on the wagon.
Then you need to decide, is the car understeering, or oversteering.
Mine was understeering terribly, always did. If I went into a curve hot,
at times I would turn the wheel, and it would just kinda....like not turn!
I had to set myself up for the turn slow down, and throttle thought it, to bring the **** around.
Going uphill was fun, downhill, scary!

After the thicker rear bar, I just...turn! The tires grab...it's a beautiful thing.
The final piece that really completed an otherwise frustating expenditure of
nearly 2 grand on suspension, at least until I put the thicker rear bar.

For certain they were included in the facelifted SS230 and Coupe 2005+.
(Facelifted)

For me, I don't want any thicker.
Sway bars prevent your independant suspension from acting independantly.
Which can be good....or bad.

As I have VERY stiff springs, I don't need no stinking 26mm front bar.
Way overkill for the coupe, with CO's.

As I said, I think the 22/19 combo is great for the coupe.
Reason being, MB never saw fit to tune the suspension for the coupe, just put whatver they put on the sedan with no thought.
The coupe doesn't have all thatweight hanging out in the rear.
The center of gravity is more forward, and the roofline + pano put more weight close to or just forward of the rear axle.

You gotta decide for yourself what you think the wagon needs.

I had a 2005 sedan loaner, I thought it handled pretty well right from the factory. Updated springs, and thicker bars.

Then your balance is neutral, and you should increase the sway bar size by an equal percentage at the front and rear of the car, if you want to keep that behavior.

I think I explained myself better above, but what I meant was don't go out and buy a huge bar for just one end and leave the other end stock or near stock.

Spring Pads Not used with Coilovers???

Hey folks, Been on a few mos. STFFing, but need to confirm an item.

I will be installing H&R Street Performance Coilovers on my 04 C240 wagon soon.

Did i read/understand correctly that you do not use the rear spring pads with coilovers?

If someone could confirm that, i would appreciate it,

Thank, Greg

Just saw your post. Hey, what can I say. Although, in all honesty, H&R's will get just as good a result.

if you want a little more oversteer go with Eibach, if you want to just improve the stock handling go with H&R which is setup more like the stock to produce understeer. Or you can go with AMGs which you can usually find them used off member's C32 or 55.

I have the Eibach front and rear. Check it out here at DriveWire.com:

http://www.drivewire.com/products/me...way-bars/6343/

I am very happy with the setup, and the price is really good if you get the front and rear together.

those red bars are awesome I love mine too especially with the nose heavy C32. love how the sway bar made the front more willingly to turn-in.

I really don't understeer like at all. I know that is really wierd, but I LOVE IT (obviously)

I want to get less body roll and some better handling BUT I WOULD LIKE TO AVOID UNDERSTEER AT ALL COSTS

should I go for the Eibachs or with the AMG front and H&R Rear?

that is a good price for the set. I searced for my car though (2005 c230) and I didnt find them.

They should fit right?

Problem with lowering!

Hi all,

I have a problem in my car (C coupe) after installing eibach springs and koni sports, the front rigth side of the car is lower in 1cm than the left side!

The rigth side (lower) is the correct hight, and I allready changed the springs for the other side (rigth to left and left to rigth) but no changes!!! :dunno:

The only difference I could see is alignement, the rigth wheel is 1cm ahead than the left one (more 1cm of wheelbase on the rigth side) but my tyre guy says it have nothing to do with alignemt!!

Meanwhile I istalled eibach springs in my brothers car ( C coupe also) but with stock shocks and the car sitts correct!!!

Any one have more ideas!? :hmm:

How long have you had them ?
Maybe you just need to drive it for a while so the suspension will settle down evenly.
On the other hand 1cm higher in't dramaticly much...
You probably want to post in the suspension thread if you want helpfull answers.

So it's the shocks then?!

I actually have the same problem with Tein COs. The rears are all the way down, but both sides have different heights.

It could be the springs pads that I left in there tho in my case. I was told springs pads have to be removed when installing COs.

YES! I did the same thing with me HR CO's The pads need to come out so the coil (perch) can sit right and straight.

Believe me, 1cm its too much, this way I have stock high at that wheel and the car look funny!

At the rear its all ok, spring pads are allright but only at front there is this problem!

I will take some pics of my car and my brother.

Frank, can you help me further on this, what is the shim, do you have pics of it?

My shocks where installed on a koni main dealer, and past week checked by my mechanic when changing the springs!

Sorry if this is a stupid comment, but are you guys sayimg the AMG sways are a straight bolt-on to the 203 sedan or coupe? Does it make sense then to just go to the dealer and have one or both installed? I am thinking to reduce body roll without going to a hard-riding setup so the 16mm AMG rear seems like it would give me a slight improvement.

Yes, it's a direct bolt on, but it's not hard, you should just do it yourself to avoid any issues with the dealer. They'll likely feed you a huge line of crap as to why not to do it.
