It's a nice feature, but annoying that it has to be pointed at the car. At least window closing feature. On my Renault Megane. I just double tap the lock button on the remote and it locks all doors and closes all windows and sun roof. Double tap the unlock button and it opens all. Works from as far away as the reciever can send an RF signal.

Yeah, 10 feet is the maximum it'll work for me. It isn't very perfected in my opinion - my BMW can do it from like 40 feet at min. and that's the whole point because during summer time, as soon as I'd see the car I'd start pressing it and as long as it triggers the alarm the windows start rolling down. However, BMW uses a different technology, hence there is not little black dot on the driver (or passenger door) to aim at.

It's mainly a convenience feature, but at times with the C-Class I've just unlocked the door, stuck the key in the ignition and closed the sunroof because it was getting annoying waiting for it to respond.

Anyway, sorry it can't help you much. Leave your sunroof tilted when you leave the car, quite a bit of hot air travels out.

so I'm just screwed? Would ordering a new key help? Or is it the reciever unit in the car?? I might just start replacing parts and see where it gets me... And also, the autodown button for the drivers side window is now broke, I have to jimmy rig it to get it to work.

See I would not have had the patience to see whether or not it was the sensor. I'd have just gotten pissed, gotten into the car, done it manually, and given up on it...

Hold the button down from outside the car.
Windows and sunroof/shade should operate.
Try both sides of the car.
No worky likely means the sensors are bad, which seems to happen.

aaaarghhh... after I posted here, I went and checked again with both my keys and it didn't work. The car was in garage since morning and the temperature is about 95 F. Then I went out around 2 O clock, parked in the sun for an hour and half and tried it again, voila! it worked. The temperature on display was 111 F and that damn thing worked... not inside my garage where it is lot cooler.

Mine is temperamental at best...

It works when it feels like it, but I've put my key through the wash machine two times now, so I can't fault MB for that one.
