Oh, Im not taking anything personally, I just felt the need to address the remark when i took the time to address some of the concerns on this thread. Besides, if I actually do move to AZ, I won't get to cite all of the front plate violators and that would truly be a tragedy...LOL

MB & other car manufactures should just design the front bumper with a front plate in mind, I know it wouldn't looks as good as no plate, but since must states require them, it would look better than a peace of plastic stuck on the nose as we now have.

They do design the front of the car, and very nicely at that, on passenger cars in Europe for a front plate. It is the funkily-large size of the USA plate that creates problems for us -- if we had the same longer and narrower plates that they have in Eruope (where MBZ's are produced anyways) we wouldn't have as much of a problem.
The supercars that I deal with usually have a rear plate location and no front plate location. If one must (or wishes) to mount a front plate, a reflectorized sticker or vinyl plate for the front works well enough....

Im Fcking Pissed Off!!!! (Front License Plate)

The sales manager called to let me know that my car is finally ready to pick up. (3 weeks late) But here is where it gets good. I told the sales manager 5 times and the salesman twice not to drill holes and to put a fckin license plate bracket on!! What do they fcking do?? Put a license plate bracket on!!!!!!! He said the general manager overrulled him because of "class action law suits" I am going to pick it up in an hour and a half. What should i say? And anyone know how much it will cost to plug two holes up?
TIA

Demand that they replace the front bumper and give you a loaner until its ready.

I'd start by asking to speak with the general manager to validate the story. If it is true, you don't have much of an option except for backing out of the purchase. If it isn't true, then why not demand a replacement bumper. Good luck!

I don't know about that, I just bought my mercedes and they told me at the dealer that they wouldn't put it on. I didn't even have to tell them not to. They said if I ever needed it installed to come back to them and they'll take care of it. It's just a fix-it-ticket out here so who cares. Demend a new bumper and if they don't give it to you back out of the deal and go else where. Good luck.

A lot of dealers have a policy to put it on if the car is sold in a state that requires a front plate. Why should the dealer be responsible for you breaking the law without the plate? If you do not like the rule then move to a state that does not have it. Sorry but the dealer is more in the right than you are since it is the law in CA to have a front plate.

when I got my 2006 W203 from House of Imports, they had me to sign a paper said " I am the one who order the dealer NOT to put the bracket on the front bumper" . So NO front plate for me, But if you are going to be LAX for any reason, you need to put a front plate, because the cop at the airport will give you a ticket just for it, they check every car for front plate inside the airport.

my sister recently bought her MB and she had to sign some paper that said she would put the front license plate on. it didn't say that the dealer had to do it, i guess its just to release the liability of the dealership. ask for a new bumper

Wait a minute.....it takes at least a month to get the plates in CA so this reasoning doesn't hold water. If you asked to have the front side windows tinted they would do it....and that's against the law in CA. Right? I would not accept the car without a repalcement bumper that is nano coated, not just repaired in their shop. You paid for the car and should get what you want...period. The dealer is not responsible for enforcing the law and wouldn't get the ticket for tinting or a missing front plate. They didn't put the front plate bracket on my car without me even asking and said bring it in when the plates come and they'll take care of it then if I wanted to.

No the dealer is not in the right. The car doesn not come from the factory like that and regaurdless of the law i'm am the one responsible, not the dealer. In cali it is also the law that if it is raining and you use your wipers that you have to have your headlights on, does that mean the dealer is responsible to make sure the headlights come on when the wipers are working? No, the owner of the car is. They want that front plate on there so they can advertise thier dealer. Make them replace the bumper.

Rusnak drilled me after repeating to them 10 times DONT DRILL MY BUMPER. I came to pick up my car and the 1st thing i noticed was a plate in the front. I was pissed.

I told them they damaged my car and i wasnt happy about it. They ran the law thing by my and decided to buy me 2 sets of bumperplugs. Although i would still prefer them not drilling my bumper, i cant really complain now because those bumper plugs work fine !

I never mentioned a single thing to them and the front license bracket came with the car in the trunk. I've never heard anything about the dealer being responsible... but this car was purchased about 3 years ago...
