New mods today.....

Got some new stuff installed by Steve this morning. I got new euro impact strips, a new shifter, color coded door handles and a rearview mirror with the ambient light feature. Sorry for the crappy pix , but it is a crappy day here in IL and I also have a crappy camera to use.

Thanks to Steve for the install, Wanda for the coordination and to Erwin for being the host garage.

Why weren't your door handles color coded originally?
I thought they came that way.

I didn't get the C7 package, so if you notice I don't have the 7 spoke wheels either. The black handles really annoyed me and I am glad that they are finally replaced.

Looks great, i was glad to get rid of my amber lights and black door handles as well. What is the ambient light feature?

The dealer sells the euro bumper strips for 51.00 each.

no, the door handles on the coupe do not match the color of the car when you purchase it. Can anyone say cheap? Your car looks nice!

You can also purchase the 2005 shifter from the Mercedes dealer. If you have the MBCA discount, It shouldnt be pricey.

I didn't get the mirror from Steve, he just got me a new connector. The mirror was purchased on eBay and originally from a 208. I will take a pic tonight and post it for you.

Yes, I got the shifter from Steve, and I would contact them for pricing. I am not sure if there are pricing variations. E-mail to steve@mbenznl.com

It has a faint amber light on the underside of the mirror and I will post a pic later on. The mirror also has the auto-dim and the homelink buttons.

Looking sharp, John! And don't forget to thank Erwin for coordinating as well. I really couldn't do 'Chicago' without his help!

Yep, thanked him as well. It sure would not go as easy as it does without him. I am already in trouble for my next round of mods, as you guys now have everything that I need. You guys are killing me!! I am sure that Steve is still busy working away right now, and sure do look forward to our next visit.

Yeah, he must be real busy this last day in Chicago. I really hope he can get all things installed and still have time left to catch some sleep tonight. And euh... we'll be in touch again.

so is steve still in chicago? he wouldn't happen to have an extra 05 shifter with him would he? when we were e-mailing each other i was under the impression that he would be in chicago last week (during my finals) so i didn't make any orders but now that he's here, if he's got an extra shifter i think could make it to erwin's

anyway, if not, no big deal, i also tried calling Erwin but his cell phone number seems to have changed since last year. Erwin, if you read this and you still have my number, please give me a call, i'd love to stop by and check out yer new goodies and possibly catch steve if he's still around

btw-nice mods john

They added the ambient light to the 2004.5 C-class models. I searched high and low for the mirror at a resonable price and finally came across one for $50.00, and I think they are $700+ new from the dealer. There was no way that I was paying that price so I went on my hunt and found one.

well son of a gun, my car is a 2004.5 (one of the early first ones, doesn't even have the nano-paint) and it doesn't have the ambient light. but it did come with the updated rear lights

It wasn't designed to really "light up" anything, but once your eyes get adjusted to the complete darkness at night, the LED does cast an surprisingly impressive orange glow over the center console, from top to bottom. But if you frequent an area with lots of ambient light at night (streetlights, etc.), you probably won't be able to see the orange glow.

Steve will leave for SanFran early Monday morning. But even if you would have been able to see him, he doesn't bring along spare parts / units when travelling through the US via air...

Maybe we can get you the shifter when Steve goes to Chicago again - we will let you know when this will be.

greetingz,

BigSis
