GOT IT ! Got myself a 2002 C230 K Coupe
Hey guys,
I am a newbie ! I was on last week asking about opinions on the car....and guess what I bought it.
It is a 2002 C230 K Coupe Blue with beige leather interior, it has the Evolution Package (C7), and a 72,000 KM on it.
As you can see the car has about 8,000 km left for the warranty, so I am going to take it in, see what I can get from the dealer for them to fix it. Here is my list:
1) Sunroof slow (probably needs lubricant)
2) 1st to 2nd gear grinds a bit (but from what I read on the forum it is normal)
3) Interior light under sun visor doesn't turn on
4) Rattling from Hatch ( from what I read their is a fix for it)
5) Rear shock when it is engaged it squeeks.
6) Driving the car past 140km/h, steering wheel shakes.
I was just wondering is their any other problems, I should ask the dealer to check, also do you guys recommend extended warranty (please do not ask me the search feature, as I have, and I want people's opinion on my specific car)
Thanks....really excited to join the Mercedes Community !!!!!

Out Of Control!!
I'm guessing you're from Canada??
If so, no - an alarm wasn't standard, I don't think.
Have your dealer check out both front turn signal sockets - they commonly frazzle (there's a Technical Service Bulletin ["TSB"] out on it - it's that common).
Other than that, enjoy the car. Did you get Orion or Capri? Orion's much better!

congrats on your new car and welcome. as far as a couple issues go,
Sunroof slow: the (the pano roofs) begin to bind after 50-60k miles im told by the techs. ive had mine relubed a couple times for the same problem. eventually the entire roof has to be replaced.
1st to 2nd gear grinds a bit: yeah this is definately normal
Interior light under sun visor doesn't turn on: probably burnt out bulb

actually theres a ton of stuff u can get done....
U can replace the sunroof front piece with a later model. It has a plastic nub on it to reduce wind noise.
The back hatch that lifts up. It can be redone with a carpet material to remove the squeeks.
Tons of TSBs if they were not done.... If you have a good relationship with the dealer u can get them to replace suspension bushings, motor mounts.
For the sunroof... I would ask to see if they can replace the tracks and motors.. unless u like the idea "dont fix it if its not broken"
check both the front visors and passenger visor to make sure they can swing to block the side window.
Extended warrenty for me was too expensive... The price goes up a lot if u did not buy it when the car was with in its first year.

I did... it depends on the tech and the service advisor... but usually they will help.
Just said that other people u know have gotten them done under warrenty.
I think there were some wiring harness TSB for the turn signals...Front windows.... I cannot remember the rest.

#1- Its not a real fast roof. Check someone elses first.
#2 - No this is not normal. Grinding could mean bad synchros, or a clutch that isn't fully disengaged when you shift.
#3 - Check the bulb.
#4 - Some felt or foam on hatch interior bezel will fix this.
#5 - ??? Huh?
#6 - Tires need to balanced, or you may have suspension problems. A wheel may bent too. NOT NORMAL. These cars feel as smooth as your sofa at 130mph.
