First mod- flat hood ornament
I just put on this schatz flat hood emblem. I think it looks great except it seems to rise up off of the hood a little, not quite flush. Did this happen to anyone else and if so how did you fix it? Thanks

I too installed the hood emblem and found the edges to stick up a little.
To fix: Pushed the emblem all the way in the bracket while off the hood.
--The instructions tell you to mount the bracket and them put silicone on the emblem and push it on. I did all this while off the car, and make sure you push the emblem all the way on. That way when you tighten down the bracket, the emblem will seat up against your hood. It should actually pull the emblem out of the bracket a little. If you do it right there is no gaps.

BTW, there is nothing special about this "Schatz" emblem... you can buy an SLK emblem just like it an any Mercedes dealer. ($25 with sedan mount 3 years ago).
Too bad the blue color fades over time with outside sun exposure.

i bought my flat emblem from jerry of formymercedes.
he told me to use a little bit of multi-purpose epoxy.
i first mounded the housing brackets.
as instructed, i then put a few drops on the back center of
the emblem and applied gentle pressure. with proper tightning, it's pretty flush all the way around. be carful not to get the epoxy on the body of
your car though...otherwise... this technique worked for me though.

Honestly, I wouldn't use any adhesives on this part. It's made of plated and painted plastic, and if you keep the car more than the warranty period, the blue color will fade and you may want to replace it with a new top badge ($10 at the dealer). Using adhesive will make it messy to remove and clean up.
tommy, my business partner has lost interest... I owe you 10 minutes. I could package those up in a donut hole and send them along sometime.
