Garage Door Opener

Is anyone using the built-in garage door opener? I've tried to program mine unsuccessfully. The directions are fairly straight forward, so I’m wondering if it’s just an issue w/ my Genie garage door? It’s not even one of the openers w/ a rolling code

I've been using mine for about a year now. Works perfectly. I don't recall doing something special programming it.
Is the frequency your transmitter is using supported by the opener?

make sure the car is on when you program...

and use it. I remember going thru this process only to be discouraged because the damn car wasnt on. Other than that, just put the remote close and hold down the buttons. when it starts flashin, youre set.

the key thing is that you hold it down for a little longer than you think... i had to hold the button and the garage opener button for like a minute before it started flashing (and i have an old garage opener)

my opener would not program correctly using the instructions in the MB manual. i tried about 20 times, it never worked. then one day i went to the HomeLink website and used their instructions. they said to hold down the button on your mirror, but to press and hold the opener button every 2 seconds. (i.e. press for 2 seconds, release quickly, press for 2 seconds, etc.)

it took about 30 seconds for mine to program but since then it's worked without a hitch.

Mine dosen't work either. My garage door is a rolling code and has a lern button on it. When i press it, it flashes for like thirty seconds and thats when i press and hold the button on the mirror. I've tried it like 20 times and it never works. Is there a special trick for rolling code garages?

You are missing the most important part. Once you program the remote to send out the right signal on the right frequency you have to push the learn button on the garage door opener. You should follow the instructions that came with your garage door opener. Instructions for homelink are on the homelink website.

Homelink Website

If you still don't get it, push the SOS button on your otherwise useless Teleaid and have them walk you through it or send someone out to your house.

I GOT IT!!! WOO HOO!

Ok, thanks for all the advice. I went to the HomeLink site, where I learned something new.

If you push the button and it blinks rapidly for two seconds before becoming solid, it indicates that your garage door opener uses a rolling code. Bingo! That was it! I DO have a rolling code opener. I assumed that I didn't because it also has dials to set numbers. The training button is really tiny, and I just missed it upon my initial inspection.

Anyway, it's working now and it is far superior to using my old clunky opener. Just another one of the myriad features I will enjoy. :p

I just managed to program my garage door using the rolling code method.

I have Liftmaster Professional (41D4674-10D). I managed to get a copy of the manual and they have instructions in there as well.

http://www.liftmaster.com/pdfdocs/114A3072.pdf

I reversed my car out, thinking that it has to be line of sight. I tried several times but nothing works.

I drove my car right under the control box, and opened my sun roof, and reached for the "Learn" button.

So within 30seconds I have to press button 2, 3 or 4, I use "3", somehow "2" did not work. Btw, I cleared all the memory by pressing 2 & 4 for 20sec.

While pressing "3" for like 2sec, look at the control box/motor unit, there is a light there, it will blink and once you see it, release button "2".

That's it. It's done.

THE C350
I hate having to program the home link. Such a pain... I live in a gated community and my family has 4 cars and two clickers for said gate. So I spent two hours to get my car to open the gate it was such a pain. I don't know what the issue was but It finally started to work. I can program my car to a normal garage door in like 20 seconds so I don't get it. The funny thing is a guy that lives around the corner from me saw that I didn't use a clicker and came over to have me program his range rover supercharged and it took like 45 minutes.

Helped a friend program his Acura to a Genie with rolling code. It took both of us. Me in the car pressing the Homelink button and him standing on a ladder pushing a button on the opener itself.
However, this was in the Acura owner's manual as to how to do it.

Nope; I'll check again but I doubt it. I have them older style mirrors when you have to flick if the lights behind you are to bright. Must be an overseas standard accessory.

My 2005 does not have the garage door opener. You see them on Ebay all the time... for instance:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/01-05-Merced...item20b5294dc7

I'd like to purchase this for my car, and install it... will it work?

According to dealer, it costs about $1,000 to replace an existing one. Most of it is for labor. The mirror also is autodimming, has the microphone and other stuff built into it, etc.
Nice to have.
Interestingly, Toyota has a box on the ceiling where you place your regular opener inside. Then you push on the closure and it activates the hidden opener. Have had them for years and work very well. Of course, you can only have one device in it.

I guess I'll take a stab at it... I don't think it would need any Star programming. I've seen some wiring diagrams in other posts... just wondering if the wiring has been pre-run. Anybody know?

I think the mirror only needs power all the auto dimming and home link stuff is built in. So I think it would work but might need a connector changed out.
