Damn Damn Damn Fudge - A Few Pics SSR Comps :)

So, it was another nice day so I took a crack at the SSRs again. At VIR I discovered the 235 fronts didn't clear the H&R coilovers. I couldn't even bolt it on, no chance.

They look so freaking good. The rear fits damn nice. Close to tight, but nothing that me and my utility knife and a baseball bat (ala Jeff Short ) couldn't fix if needed.

The front 235/40 tire rubs on the strut. It is seriously only a millimeter. I am going to get a 10mm spacer for the front. with the 20mm difference from front to rear 255 rears, it'll still be staggered. I think the 10mm will still allow clearance of the front fender. Might need to roll it though. I am pissed. I thought it looked so good. Nice to eliminate the rear gap with tire not spacers... 255 BIATCH. You could go to 275 but you'd need to get the offset really right. Really right. And that's without the rear coilover adjustment sleeve. Can't go any lower.

Here are a couple pics. While I was under there I did a general suspension inspection and lubed my sway bushings. CRC White Lithium spray grease rocks. You just drop the brackets a little and spray in. Nice!

Doesn't H&R make a 5mm spacer?

Yes, I think so... I think the 5 will clear the strut but the 10 would clear the perch lower

H&R also makes 8mm spacers as well.

Have all the issues with H&R spacers been settled ?

meaning, a lot of people complained at first that they unsettled the car, and cause vibrations, and what not...

Was that faulty installation, or some sort of problem with H&R spacers ???

I'm considering putting 5, 8, or 10mm spacers on my rear wheels.

Thoughts / Suggestions ???

I've had 20mms on my ccoupe for over two years now without any issues at all. In fact, this is the first time that I'm hearing of any issues.

The only real problem that I have with them is that they stick like glue onto your wheels and are a mother to take off. I've seen chamfered spacers which sound like a better mousetrap to me.

I don't have spacers, but as far as I've seen the people having vibration issues are those with spacers on front wheels. As for the size you should use, I'd recommend taking measurements of how much clearance you have between tire and fender to avoid rubbing. If you have under 10mm clearance, I think you're better off leaving well enough alone because the difference would hardly be noticeable anyway.

my ride height is fully adjustable (CARLSSON RS), so clearance isn't a big deal.
I just want the outside of my wheels to be flush in line with the body of the car, and
I believe it would take somewhere between 5-10 mm. It will also really accent the wider tires I have in the rear which makes the back of the Coupé more bearable to look at !

The way the Coupé is shaped, it sits like a wedge so even if the car is flat all-around, the back always seems like its sitting higher. I can always adjust my rear height just a tad to allow for clearance. All that leaves is how many MM space to use.

If I remember correctly, I think the vibration issues did concern the front wheels, now that I think about it.

H&R trak + spacers are hubcentric. I've had the 5mm on my coupe for a few months and no problems so far.

Had one, then I moved down here and took a townhome while I figured out what I am doing with my life.

We have selected a few areas including northestern PA, Orange Co. NY, Richmond, VA area, and the Realiegh NC areas... I've been consulting for one company for a year now and we are negotiating a hire. That will impact "where" we move and how soon I get my garage. Idealy, I am going to get a 2 car attached, and build a 3 car detached with an apartment and home office on the second floor
