they are spring and shock combo that can be adjusted both in height and dampening rate( softer or stiffer ride) depending on what coilovers you get h&r kw carlsson bascially springs match the shock you can play with the height and set it exactly where you like

Thanks. That's exactly the info i needed. But can I do the installation myself or do I need to do it in a shop? And can I adjust it myself? Thanks.
Btw, do you have coilovers yourself, and if you do, what kind and for how much?

you can do the install your self, but if you have never done any form of suspention work before i would sugest you take it to a reputable shop and have it done, should cost around $150-250.
the price of coil-overs is around $1200-3500 depending on the brand. the main differance from a coil-over set up and a regular spring/shock combo is you can adjust the ride height by rotating a small ring in wich the spring rests on. You can adjust it your self its real easy, jack the car up to release tention on the springs, rotate the ring up or down lower the car back down from the jack.

I had coils on my last car...PITA if you ask me. You need to jack up your car (4 times) and stick you hand in pure grease/dirt/mud/etc and twist those damn things. And you need to make sure you do it evenly or your ride height will be messed up.
It was fun to be low in the summer and higher in the winter.

hehe- coilovers rock- they are the only option to eliminate wheel gap. Cutting progressive springs SHOULD NOT be an option.
H&R and KW V1s are hieght adjustable only. H&R use a Bilstein shock/strut, KW uses Konis.
The Carlsson RS, Bilstein PS2 and KW V2 are hieght and rebound adjustable. The Carlsson and Bilstein (the Carlsson is or is based on the Bilstein) use a mono-tube design so when you adjust rebound, bump, or compression, is also changed. The KW Variant 2 (Koni internals) doesn't and bump is static, and you can dial in rebound without impacting bump.
The next step which no one has taken yet is the 2-way or 3-way adjustable KW Race coilovers. I am hoping to get the KW 3-way race setup, but it is dependent on too many variables right now.
There are pros and cons to all. I wish we had a Penske option.

Suspension Thread
Here's the suspension thread I started a while ago on what's available for the w203:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/100665-w203-cl203-suspension-shocks-springs-sway-bars-discussion-upgrade-thread.html
Here's an explanation from a Super Street article on "developing" TEIN coilovers:

Couldn't find any good explanations
