2005 C230 Sport Sedan, Kompressor Engine, Brilliant Silver
1st post, newbie with questions

Hello Everyone,
Obviously, I'm new here, but anyway, I'm also the new owner of a 2005 C230 Sport sedan with the Kompressor engine. Car is brilliant silver, and I have it under lease, and more than likely will be buying it out. I do have a few questions for everyone, and would like to thank in advance all those who are willing to assist me.

1. This car is a W203 body style isn't it?
2. Will all W203 parts fit?
3. I've had the car for about a month and a half, the "new" novelty is wearing off, so now its time to trick it out. What are some things you like and dislike about upgrades to this car, that you have done personally?

I'm allready looking into doing a grill swap, a little more sporty, with the logo in it, and swapping out the hood ornament with the flat one. I'm also looking into a set of 19" rims. Looking at the DUB Bellagio spinners, but not sure if it will look "ghetto". I would like to keep the car classy looking, but make it my own at the same time. Also looking for options in the performance area.

Any info you guys could share about any/all of this, including places to get the parts, ie. grill, would be greatly appreciated. This is the only place I've seen so far that has been anywhere near knowledgable in reguards to this car (2005).

Thanks,
Aaron

Try formymercedes.com
Be careful when selecting rims....have to get the right offset and style..make sure it will clear the front break caliper. Spinner will look gheto imho.
Do a search..you'll find the answers and opinion. Congrats...

Welcome to the w203 Thread!

1. Yes
2. Depends on what it is and if it's for the coupe of sedan. Do a search for specific parts first and then you can get an idea of what you'd want.
3. The body lines of the w203 is, IMHO, the best of its class (comparing to 3 series, Audi A4, Acura RSX, etc...). I like the mods I have and am planning to get. There are a lot of people who have really gone out of their way to make their cars look crazy hot! Take a look at the picture thread and you'll get the idea.

Welcome to the forum.

You're looking at these?

Yup. Ghetto IMHO. Plus you'll have fun with the brake cooling on those from the looks of it. You might as well put these on instead. (j/k)

Yes, these are the rims I was looking at, I have not seen them anywhere here in WNY and thats a start, plus I like the looks of them, Im sure they would look great spinning. I've had alot of ghetto cars and done lots of ghetto stuff to them, always liked it, but this is my first "nice" car, and I don't want to take a Benz and make it look like a Tempo, lol.

Thanks to everyone for their input so far.

Aaron

hola!

in all honesty, if you like the wheels, then get them personally, I don't think those wheels *match* well, given the sporty, aggressive look of the SS

To get a better idea how ghetto spinners are, click on th search link and run a search for "spinners ghetto". Then be your own judge.

Try to project some semblance of class...it's über foolish to spend money on a leased car to intetionally look ghetto. Here are some cheaper options:

1. Mercedes-Benz ornament gold chain.
2. Mercedes-Benz clock with neck chain a-la Flavor Flav.
3. Either of the above worn while blaring Sir Mix A Lot's "My Posse's On Broadway"

flat emblem hood badge and new grille are the most common changes. i bought mine from jerry of formymercedes. i personally would get spinners on a sedan. imo it will look "ghetto". if you do though, make sure you get tinted window and some subs to top it off. it's your car!

OK,
So I put out a call today to discountedwheelwarehouse.com and spoke with Joey. I have a call out to DUB to see if they can even do those rims in a staggered pair and with the correct offset and bolt pattern.
I was also told that the biggest I could go is 20 X 8.5"!! Has anyone done this on the Sport Sedan yet???

Hmmm...................20s......................

This is going to be fun... 20" Chrome spinner.....probably you need to raise the ride height.... It's your car, man. Do what ever you want to do with it and post the pictures....
I just feel sorry for that Benz... Poor thing

OK, so the call into DUB came back, rims will not fit on my car because of the larger front brake caliper on the Sports.
So, I just ordered these rims in 19", they will be shipping out on Monday from S. Texas, and I should have them around Thursday.

The wheels are ASA ST4 By BBS Chrome Plated with original MB center caps. The wheels are 19"x8.5" Offset 37 (Front) and 19"x9.5" Offset 31 (Rear) with 5x112 bolt pattern. Tires are Nitto NT555: 235/35/19 (front) and 265/30/19 (Rear). I paid for an extra hub centric spacer set, and longer lug bolts. Total with shipping for rims, tires, valve stems, spacers, lug bolts, mount and balance was $2K even.

I think they look similar to the AMG wheels, but have just a little flash to them. Its not a real deep lip, but I'm ok with that.
What do you think?

I didn't know it was supposed to be hard to get 19s? I will post more pics and info once they get here. I'm hoping for Thursday. Not really sure how long UPS takes to get from S Texas to W New York? Usually 4 days, but that is "usually".

On tirerack it shos them available up to a 19". Go here:

mmm hhhhmmm...

I saw those spinner you were thinking about and then a couple days ago I was reading Car and Driver and there is a blurb about how over the spinner thing is and then I saw a guy from West Coast Customs on tv saying the same thing...

The wheels you ended up getting are REALLY nice! I think your car will look a lot better with them...for sure.
