NO WAY! He walked in on me debadging the 320 and he was like, "What? A 320 isn't good enough?" and he just walks away. I'm like CRAP! He thinks I'm debadging because I'm ashamed of the model.

Yeah, it's quite the parade when we all pull into the driveway after we all get off work.

to me de-badging alway reminds me that the car was in an accident and the bodyshop was too careless to re-apply the badges. When I see a debadged C class, I automatically think, hmmm C230 or C240. If the car was a C350, C32 or C55 the badges would still be on.

Tell me if you had a CL, SL or SLR would you still be de-badging? How about that AMG badge if infact it was an AMG?

Not sure why everyone is so ashamed of their cars? So what if you have a C230 or 40, the majority of the population can't afford it in the first place. If you don't believe that, count how many Kia's, Hyundai's, Mazda3 or Civics and Corolla's are on the road, notwithstanding the amount of American crap on the road such as Taurus, Cavalier's and Sebrings.

Do you etch out the names such as Citizen, Seilko because you can't afford a Rolex or Omega? Are your TV's at home devoid of thier badges so that people think that you have a Sony or Pioneer?

Just on a side note,

WHen i visited in Germany i would guesstimate that 80% if not more of the Mercedes were debadged coming from the factory that way. It didnt matter on the type of car either. I saw C/E/S/ML classes all debadged. That is what actually drove me to do the same to my car. So the answer to your question is no, im not ashamed of the C230 i have, its just a cleaner look. And no, i dont think i would debadge and AMG, but that is something extraordinary to the stock classes.

At age 22 and driving a Mercedes is just unbelievable for me, I'm proud to have this car, although I haven't done it yet, I'm going to, but only because it looks so much cleaner. You could debadge a Toyota Corrolla if you want, it's still going to look cleaner than it did before. Around my area, I see all kinds of cars debadged, but I'm sure most of them do it for the cleaner look and not for shamefulness. No matter what Mercedes you drive, no one should feel ashamed, people who have owned Mercedes' long enough probably understand that. People don't debadge anything else so that arguement doesn't really apply here. However, if I did have an AMG, I would definitely leave it, in my opinion. And by the way, I respect your opinion, I'm just adding to this, maybe some others can describe their opinion on this.

yeah, it might be harder to prove that you're debadging for the looks, but i really didnt put up an arguement with my dad explaining that it was for the looks..i obviously wasn't debadging bcuz i was ashamed of the model bcuz i have a 320...the only thing better is a 350..and then the amg series, but my car would not be mistaken for an amg...or a 350...

no disrespect to anyone here, but u are all going through way too much truble to d-badge ur car. i just reacently removed all the badges on my car, the C32 AMG off the back and the V6 Kompressor of the sides. and all u need is a hair drier a plastic card and a can of WD40 and nothing else, just heat up the badge and take off and clean the glue with WD40, and it works like a charm. i have done this and it was soo easy it took me a total 30 min to clear all the badges.

Harry:

I am sure you have most of the forum lined up to buy your badges.

Did you debadge for self defence? i.e. to prevent theft of the car?

It would be fun to put C240 on the back and blow everyone away when the light turns green

I would think the WD40 would eat through the paint a bit? I guess that's why it worked for him haha.
