For doorsills, go to clairparts
They have the c230's sills for $360, which is $40 cheaper than dealers. I've had install quotes of 360 to 400 at a couple of dealers.

Brabus also makes some - they're $500 and light up indiglo aquaish.

BTW: some people have bought "Mercedes" sills on ebay, and they've been aftermarket, so beware!

Heres the Clear Markers, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1837306402

Those who have them installed, do they fit good and did you change the bulbs also?

well i went the cheap route on the doorsills...
i just painted the letters light blue instead of getting the illuminated doorsills at a costy price.
my car's fog lamps are blue also so they match pretty well
here is the pic for the painted doorsill letters

How do these clears differ from the ones from Autodynamic? Do they fit better on the sedan as others have said that there were fit problems with the Autodynamics.

That's a very nice job u did with the door sills. Good stuff!

As for the side markers:

They won't fit the Coupe perfectly. The best way to make them fit is to heat up the U ring on the housing with a industrial blowdryer. Once the ABS plastic is soft enough, pull the U ring so as to widen the arc. Let it cool down and voila! A perfect fit!

I changed my bulbs to PIAA Xtreme White. I've had them on for 3 weeks now. Still running, not burnt out.

pardon my ignorance
but is it hard to install illuminated door sills? How are they powered? It would be a neat accessory to have... but I'm not likely willing to pay the dealer/installer to install such a rediculous item hehehe...

for one it's embarrasing.... and if the install price is on par with other MB items, then definately a big turn off!

from what I have read on the forums about the sills, they are hard and very time consuming to install.... You might try searching the forum, i'm sure somone has posted instructions on how to to do it

The OEM sills sold by the MB dealers are diffinclut to install. Tha aftermarket sills such as those sold on ebay are supposed to much easier to install. I believe they are wired to the interior light switches in the doors.

the problem with fitting clear side markers on my coupe was that the u- ring was too large, not too small as big sheesh says. they were wobbling when they were in place, so i simply wrapped the u rings in electrical tape, and snapped them in. it was a very snug fit.

here is how they look like in day time.
i asked a body shop, they said colored head lights and side markers are illegal, but colored fog lamps are ilegal because they are more like decorative related than safety related.

and i've been have them blue for more than 2 months, passed by countless cops days and nights without any problem.

I like what u did with those fog lamps..they look really cool at nite!

How did you put the transparent blue sheet on? Did you have to remove the entire lamp to put them on and then attach them back onto the car?

Glue used? or what?

details please..and what brand of sheet?

Thanks!

Big Sheesh
i don't know the brand, it's the transparent plastic sheets that i bought at Michaels art supply. it comes as a roll (about 1 ft wide x 20 ft total length which u only need 5"x5" or so per lamp ) and costs $4 only. i think u can get this at any art supply store.

i cut an oval piece larger than the lamp size (about 5") and slide it in the gap between the lamp glass and the bumper. there are several "tips" on the bumper that separate the lamp glass from touching the bumper. they act as fasterners holding the sheet so no glue is needed.
u'll see some wrinkles but they are not that visible unless u get up close. i guess if u take the lamp off and tape the sheet around it u can get a wrinkleless application but i won't bother.
