How many miles till the wheels fall off?

I just bought my car in april. I bought this car so i can enjoy my ride to work. I drive about 60 miles daily, 6 times a week. My first month and she is already at 3000 miles.

My question is. How well made are these 230k engines. At this rate, ill be hitting 100k miles in about 3-4 years. I love the C class ( My 2nd one ) and i really want to keep this for a while. Generally speaking how long will these engines last if we maintain oil changes and what not.? Do you think we can get over 200k miles on these cars?

I've also thought about getting a beater to drive to work, but thats just a thought.

hehe. the '05 C-class maintenance booklet ends at page 47 for 195,000 miles. I sure hope it will get there one day. I'm thinking, for sure I will buy newer cars but I want to keep this one as the spare car because I like it so much

i leased my C230k but i'm thinking about just buying it out now. although i'm under mileage right now, i know i'll be going over since starting this winter i will be living in florida from october to march, than back to NY for the rest of the year. i know we were talking about ferrari's and porsche's in another thread, and although i've been planning on picking up the 4S within the next 2 or 3 years, i have to say i'm liking what i see so far with the Cayman. what do u think about it mick1? i'm really feeling it

i read that the cayman got even better time on some race track than the new 911 !

I used to like last year's boxster headlights more than the re-designed headlights in the new boxster but now i have changed my mind, the new ones are better looking. I think if you are in the market for a high performance sports car, the cayman should be considered but i don't know if i would choose it over a slk55 because it looks damn nice. I would have to see what the final cayman design looks like to make up my mind. if it's the 4S and the slk55 then i would pick the 4S

The '04 996 4S & Turbo (same car just the turbo has intercooler vents on the side) are, in my opinion, two of the most sexiest NEW cars on the road, the Turbo more so. The SL is nice and all, but its more of a classy sexy. The Turbo is just in your face HOTNESS!!! IT screams "Im a ****, ride me as hard as you can!" The GT2 and GT3 on the other hand are street leagl working girls!!! Those are the pros right there!!!

i agree. only thing i'd want on the 4S is the turbo wing and i hear it's pretty expensive.

Any car can last forever, the question becomes how much money do you want to put into it. I figure MB's are good for the warranty period, 4 yrs, 50k miles, after that, financially the value goes down faster and you have to pay steep prices for repairs. I did the math using KBB values and it was cheaper in depreciation to buy 2 C230s, 3 years apart than 1 C230 for 6 years and get the extended warranty and pay maintenance for 6 years (it was free for 4 years back in the good ole days)..
