doors unlocked on highway
guys guess what finally happened to me today!! I was doing some spirited driving getting on the highway onramp following one of the new style ML's, there is this one twisty onramp and i just floored it through making all the turns sharply, etc, accelerating the whole time, etc, until i got onto the straightaway of the highway entrance, then alll 4 doors unlocked themselves!!! i guess all the twists and high speed and turns and then going straight made the car think it was gonna roll over or something??? it was the weirdest thing but i was kinda proud my driving was good enough that it would do that hahaha.

FYI:
Typically this is caused by the door pin contact switch opening (closing electrically). How does this happen?
Basically, a very small amount of body twist will cause one of the door pin contact switches to electrically close if the door is adjusted a little to far out and/or if the switch is very sensitive. Then, the control unit, thinking someone has opened a door, unlocks the other doors.
Two ways to check for this. Try option 1 first, it's easier.
Option #1: Start your car and roll down your windows. Exit the vehicle, close all doors. Reach in through the window and lock the doors using the switch on the dash. Next, goto each outside door handle and pull hard. The one door that causes the doors to unlock is the door with the pin contact switch that is causing your issue. (By the way, this only works when you lock the vehicle with the inside switch and the vehicle running. When locking with the key, this won't happen.) If this didn't work, you can try option #2 - option #2 also verifies what I'm saying is true.
Option #2: Unlock your car, hop in. Using your finger, latch the door like it was closed - it has two clicks before it's closed. Then push in the door contact switch with your finger. (It's located under the wedge shaped door catch on the b-pillar.) Next, start the vehicle, then press the lock button on the dash. (If the doors don't lock, then the latch was not closed all the way. If the drivers door does not lock, then your not pushing in the door pin contact switch far enough) After all the doors lock, remove your finger from the door pin contact switch. All the doors will unlock!
P.S Don't forget to pull the unlock handle on the door before you slam it closed! (otherwise it will bounce back and make a loud thud)
The $10 question is, which door is the cause. You can verify it by using duct tape to hold the door pin switches closed and then getting the body to twist. Sometimes, a really off-camber driveway works better than high speed driving for me. Find the one that causes the doors to unlock, then check that doors adjustment, sometimes adjusting the door in 1 or 2 mm does the trick.
I'm curious if you try this yourself and locate your culprit - Good luck.
I personally like mbny's explanation better myself - page 666 of the owner's manual I think.

.....and, after a delay after unlocking, they may auto lock again, which is
the designed feature when faster than what...9mph? So the cycle repeats
itself periodically. Door/light switch replacement seems to be the fix here.
