3% Discount off MSRP on a factory order- Is that good?
I am interested in finding out how much you paid for a custom order and whether i got ripped off.
The MSRP on my custom factory order C230 2005 was $33,020.00. The dealer gave it to me for $32,000. That does NOT include anything else (ie registration, tax, etc..) and is for the Car alone. That is a 3% discount. Is that any good?
Very curious to know what you guys paid for a custom order.
Thanks.

Post some pics when the car arrives, I am sure that you will get lots of compliments from the more appreciative on the forum.

I just got mine, with every option except Comand, at invoice, plus +800 for my tradein versus market. But this was a week of solid, serious negotiation, and bouncing three dealers off each other.
At one point I expanded to the NY market when shopping for my car (originally from there). It's nearly impossible to get these cars on the East coast for the huge discounts witnessed out in La La Land. One dealer, with whom I developed a pretty good relationship despite not buying a car from him, was SHOCKED to see CarsDirect selling these cars out west for >$2k below invoice. It just doesn't happen here. Anything close to invoice is a good deal.
If you got the most you could, good for you, if not, it was a good learning experience. If you didn't this time, next time pit a few dealers against eachother...and be amazed at how quickly your salesman's "manager" can give another 500...then 1000...then 500 more for your trade-in. On and on...
Anyway, don't fret too much. If you financed at 5% for 5 years, it's only a matter of ~$23/mo. You'll save twice that in gas and insurance!!
Cheers.

I did bounce the offers between a couple of dealers. BTW i should mention i bought the 05 when it first came out last August.
Delbomber- You are right about these NY dealers, and the one who offered me the bigest discount also offered me the most for my trade-in. It's just unbelieveable to see how much of a discount the other West coasters are getting.
BTW, another thing i never understood is the C-spot coupon for $1500 that a lot of you guys are getting. It says there in black and white that you need to finance through MBUSA if you want the coupon. I chose to skip the coupon and finance for 4.25% rather than use the coupon and pay MBUSA 6.9%
I am seriously thinking about going to europe for my 06, otherwise i have some serious bargining power (thanks mikl52)
The CarsDirect.com experience rocks! I used to sell cars and can probably grind a better deal than anyone here, and from now on I'm gonna check CarsDirect before wasting dozens of hours driving and haggling.
