What we would like to find out if there are any 3rd party manufactures that carry a hitch. While Curtis manufacturing has a part but requires 4 hours of labour to install and the full bumper and cap must be removed. At $100 an
hour this is not feasible

The part numbers are not valid over here in North America as neither MBUSA or MB-Can does not carry the part

Have you forgotten that we have a sponsor based in Europe? Have you checked with him/her?
Plus there are dealers advertising on european ebay. There are always options.
And yes, most retrofits are not going to be cost effective. Its all in how bad you want it.

I've seen that one, read that it takes about 4hrs and requires the bumper to be removed which I am sure is not a fun job, let alone find all the fasteners and get it all back together in perfect allignment!

It seems a bit too cheap in price and wonder if it is just a univeral fit as other sources for a Curt hitch (formally Da'Lan hitch) are around $300+
The proper part number for a c-class sedan is:
Curt 11824
or
Da'Lan 25752
This is what it looks like and instructions are: http://www.hitch-web.com/hwpdf.asp?t...t87%3C2%3B4tdm

For those that are interested the hitch sold by JC Whitney part#ZX289169 is the correct Curt hitch for both the Sedan and Wagon. I had them check the part number with the Curt factory number (11824)
This is by far the cheapest place for the part. On eBay Curt hitches has a company store and they are selling it for $199 +$35 shipping and here in Canada the best price I could find was $335 +tax. JC Whitney price is $130 and if you enter the code SAVENOW in the web specials you get free shipping
Thanks Robilmichael for finding it!

JC Whitney has the reciever hitch for the C230 - $129 bucks, complete.
Check it out. It is complete with the frame mounted receiver, the 1 1/4" receiver. Wiring should be very easy. 2,000 lb capacity, 200 lbs tongue weight.
