Just got quoted $3545 for a Kleemann pulley and chip by PES Tuning in PA, for an 05 c230. He called it the "Overboost" package, with the chip and pulley.

The search turns up all kinds of conflicting results. I see prices on these boards all over the place from $600 up to $3600...Just trying to understand what a fair price for a pulley is (carlsson, renntech, kleemann, any others), and which is the most cost-effective. Any advice or simple hyperlinks would help considerably!

A fair price for a pulley is a $99, for an MB it's a little higher. The Kleemann kit you speak of was selling for a about $1,300 on another forum as a group buy, I think it's $1,600 list. The extra $2k you are paying are for their experise and knowledge on advanced selling techniques.

 

PES quoted you the wrong pulley kit, they quoted you a AMG 55 stage 1 kit,
I think it's arround 2100 $.

Carlsson wants about $3K for their kit and I don't think it comes with an ECU chip!!!

I'd gladly pay sixteen hundred to get this car where it should be, but thirty-five?? Do you know how much beer that can buy?

 

I'm surprised because this company in eastern Texas sells pulleys for the supercharged V8's like the SL55 and E55 for about $3K less than that for just the pulleys. I believe a dealer in San Diego was selling a Renntech package for the newer C230s for a little over $2K that included a pulley kit, chip, muffler. Don't know of anyone that has that and I'm not one to trust Renntech after 2 infavorable experiences. The few people on the other forum that got the Kleemann kit seemed happy with their purchase.

 

That's hillarious. Just dump the 1.8L, and get a 4.3L V8 from the last C-Class. Won't cost much more, but be gobbs faster.
