It's an additional audio input that comes with Command. You can plug in your portable MP3 player, CD Player, etc.

Awaiting a new arrival...
Did that COMAND video come with your car? If It did, yet another item of contention I need to discuss with my dealer...I hate it when the dealer knows best what not to include with your car on pickup...

That isn't a COMAND video. That box is what the Navigation CD comes in.

Yes, I also bought the whole Command CD collection which came in a nice leather-like cd case with the MB logo.

Ahh Hahhhh! That is a pen holder??! I always thought that was part of the clasp that closed the glove box. Too cool.

I just found the sunglass holder the other day. So many cool features

I don't think it is a pen holder. I think the intended use is as a tire pressure gauge holder.

Does anyone know if the AUX port is used to hook up the CD changer if you have one, or do they hook it up by some other means? Has anyone actually used the AUX port yet? What is the sound quality like?

The factory CD Changer runs through the fiber ring, so the simple answer is NO, the Aux port is not used for the factory CD Changer.

Did you select the AUX port as a source? I think you have to hit the SVC button and select it from there. I don't think it will automatically detect that there is an input coming thru the port.

I just tested it today with a portable minidisc player. Did you turn the volume WAY up? I had to turn the volume up substantially louder than the volume I use for the radio.

Did the Command have a message taking up the full screen saying something like "Auxiliary Input" ?

I knew that when I saw that it should have been working. It was at this point that I turned up the volume.

I guess you should try a different cable?? Make sure it is firmly inserted on both your player and in the Aux port.
