What would you buy, new wheels (brabus or bbs) and tires for about $1700 or TV/DVD player for your car (pic attached) for about the same price.

tough chioce!!! I would first purchase the one that makes the most sense, or the one that is needed first, and then the other.

wheels
wheels are the most important cosmetic enhancement you can do to your car. i have a 01' c240, gone through 4 sets of different wheels. just looking for that exact perfect match or maybe i just like the different look every 3 months. wheels first bud!!! plus, the dvd stuff has not peaked out yet, they'll get better and cheaper soon enough.

useless equipment
What on earth would you need a TV and DVD in a car for?!? What, you're gonna watch The Price is Right or Jerry Springer while driving? That should make for some interesting traffic safety situations. Or would you sit in a parking lot in a steam-room hot car watching a movie?

I just don't get it. Maybe it's just a gimmick to impress slack-jawed yokels; it sure seems like a completely useless piece of equipment for any car.

If you must spend the money, get the wheels.

Useless trinkets. I would take the $1,700 and get a pulley, chip and intercooler and enjoy the car.

What if something happens to the car, will MB warranty cover it after they see these mods?

What makes you think $1700 will buy wheels AND tires? The best price I found for the wheels (18 inch one piece Monoblock V) was $419 each plus at least $100 but more like $200 extra a tire. So you are closer to $2500-$3000, not $1700. Unless you go on ebay and get the fake Brabus wheels. I still say go for the wheels, the stock ones REALLY need to go!

I'd go with the rims as well.

I don't understand the attraction of the in-car DVD myself (except in mini-vans as a back-seat pacifier for kids). Most car stereo's don't have a surround set-up so you're unable to reap the benefits of DVD sound - plus you have to watch it on a tiny-*** screen. I have a DVD drive on my computer and I have yet to watch a single DVD on the thing (maybe I would if I didn't have you guys to entertain me on slow days at work ).

Cheers, BT

the KVT911 touch screen is what sells it ... esp w/ Nav ... DVD & TV is nuthin special ...

in the end the priority of mods (performance, looks, ice) depends on personal tastes. but since u asked my opinon ... if ur not gonna get the nav then i'd get the wheels (esp if u have the stck "16) and can ur friends get others good deals? TIA.

Definitely wheels first, then performce upgrades....if I have an extra $1700 & if I really want to touch the stereo part, I would rather spend it on a good aftermarket headunit, speakers and amplifier. Agreed with everyone here, a TV in a car is quite useless. A TV in a ML is another story.

Wheels, dude. Don't get me wrong, I like my I.C.E. and I am a true "Audiophile", but go with the wheels first. Quality, eye catching I.C.E. takes planning

Well...
If I just had to spend 1700$, why nto consider other ideas...

Get a giant cooler in your trunk, and fill it with ice, put some beers and glasses there. Make it hide when you press a button (in caa of cops) and keep space for a bottle of whisky.

Hm, I dont really know how to explain what I was thinking about in english.... hm.. whatever get the wheels..

That's soo funny. It's OK to swap out electrical or suspension parts and that nobody thinks about the complex electronic components that you can fry and are expensive to fix (what if your MFD shorts while you install the radio?) or the suspension components that can be damaged by lowering a car or oversized wheels but just change a little pulley or intercooler and wow, the warranttee police are after me, oohhh nooo!

If you are concerned about the warranttee then you're only piece of mind will come from not making any changes for 4 years. Anything you change in that car may affect the warrantee. The Magnason-Moss act only covers you on items that are not provided free by the manufacturer and guess what your maintenance is so you can't change anything except stuff they won't replace like tires, battery, windshield wiper blades, light bulbs and brake pads. All else, even the type of oil you use and air filter is off limits since it's provided free of charge.

You live for your warranttee, I live to enjoy my car!

personally in my old car ( honda civic ) i had a tv and dvd player in my car... man was that a waste of money. i did not use it, would never try watching tv and driving at the same time ( you may also get a bigg fatt ticket doing that ) but as for rims i use that everytime i drive my car. so personally i say go for the wheels. And also i would not want to mess with the electrical stuff in the mbz.
