alignment/dealership question

Hi all, purchased my car 3 weeks ago from Smythe European. I want to bring my car in for an alignmnet fix, it drifts to the right like a lot of cars on here. My question: is an alingnment covered on warranty? I have 3700 miles on the car, it had 2200 when I bought it.
Secondly, I dont want to bring it back to Smythe due to that dealer being an hour away. If this service is covered, will another dealer closer to home give me the alignment for free? And lastly, its probably a slim chance, but do they give out loaners even if you didnt buy the car from them?

Every dealer is different.
Alignment, I think they will do for you up to 6,000 miles. Mine didn't need it, so I'm not sure. Someone on here posted exactly how long you have before they won't honor the free alignment deal.

What one dealer covers under warranty should be covered by all dealers under warranty. You got an MBUSA warranty, not a dealer specific warranty.

Loaner cars are a dealer discretion. So some dealers might charge you $10 a day for a loaner, others don't have loaners at all and go with an outside rental car company. Some have loaners, but are not Mercedes. Best bet is to call the dealer ahead of time, let them know your situation, and put in your request for a MB loaner early.

You're entitled one free alignmnent (with tire rotation) up to 6500 miles (is what my SA told me). I had my tires rotated and aligned at 6000 miles, for free.

Exclamation Free Alignment Service

thanks for the info !!

See, I knew someone knew the answer to that one !

Just do know that on a Sports Sedan you CANNOT rotate the tires because they're staggered in size.

Arrow Since you're in the bay area...

Autobahn Motors off Ralston and 101 will give you a free loaner during the warranty period. I bought my car out-of-state and took it to them for the first time just before the warranty expired to have several little things fixed, and they gave me a loaner. I can't speak to the alignment issue, they did one for me but that was because they had half of the front end apart to fix a tsb noise issue. They seem to be pretty good for a dealer, but expensive if it's not a warranty fix.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

Thanks for the replys. How long did they have your car for the alignment work? All day or a few hours?

Alignment takes app 1-2 hours. If you make an appointment like 3 days in advance for early morning, most likely they will work on your car first. That way, you get your car done sooner.

Time for alignment

Hi, Kojak.

Best thing is to call them to make an appointment, or you can request an appointment on-line; if they can't meet that they'll call you. Their website is www.autobahnmotors.com and this link is for a service appointment: https://secure.webmakerx.net/Service...bahnmotors.com

The other post's time approximation is a good guideline, depending upon how bad your car is and how swamped they get, it's only 1-2 hours. In my case they had the car a couple of days due to the other work that preceded the alignment. If you want I can give you my service advisor's name and number, just PM me, but as basic as alignment is I'd just use the link and set up an appointment.

Good luck!

Just to correct.

In your case your, '05 230SS, alignment is covered for 12k/12months (whichever happens 1st obviously). Any dealer HAS to cover this as it is in your manufactuer's service booklet.

Even if Smyth was close to you and after you read this thread....you'll probably want to go to the Ralston dealership.
