I'm REALLY PISSED! DO NOT GO TO SOUTHBAY MERCEDES

THEY SCRATCHED (A REALLY REALLY DEEP SCRATCH) THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. The idiots hit it or something and the side is ruined. They said that they would take care of it, but it looks like the whole panel needs to be repainted.
This is bull****!
I want to post more about this bull****, but I have a letter to write.
Sorry to see that happen. Which dealership is this? Yes, make sure that you not only speak to the general manager of that dealship, but write a letter to him and cc: the higher ups. I got one one those customer service surveys with some contact information. Here's some contact information 1-800-367-6372, ext 6399 or via email at cacinternet@mbusa.com There is also this person info: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC Paul G. Juron General Manager, Customer Assistance Center. Did they even tell you about it or did you call them on it? Don't let them get away with it!!!

I'm going to raise more hell if it's not done right.
Mick, do you happen to know any of the body shops? I'm hoping that the one they use is one of them (I've read their brochure, and they're certified to fix the CL's, so hopefully it'll be fine).
But, will this hurt my trade-in/resale value? Should I be aware of anything in repainting?
thanks again!
damn dealerships think customer's won't notice (most probably don't
)just thought i'd pass this along...I read somewhere that nano can only be applied at factory as it's baked on under special conditions and any paint work after the fact is not nano. Not sure it's true now as they may have figured out a way to apply nano after factory but just something to think about and ask

the owner found a bodyshop that could do nano paint but that bodyshop is in colorado.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I might see if I could get free maintenance for life out of this deal by bringing up this point. Punitive damages, baby!!

It is non-metallic black paint, hence my service advisor was trying to tell me it would be easier to do and would match perfectly. But I still have my qualms. I wrote them a really sarcastic and scathing e-mail which hopefully got sent to all the right people.
U should check out the info posted by NJS430 regarding ceramiclear:

And they're gonna have to blend the clearcoat on the othe door/quarter panel, cancelling the Mercedes corrosion warranty on these panels as well.

**** MB of Southbay!
Yes, keep us updated.

If they shoot the door, it's likely that they won't be able to match the orange-peel effect, and possibly not even the depth/color/clarity of the original factory paint.
I've had several cars repainted, and none (repeat: NONE) of the repaints were ever close to the quality of the factory paint.
To be honest, it'll be cheaper for the dealership to have a qualified shop do a spot-repair, and you'll probably be happier in the end. (That is, assuming that they didn't dimple the sheetmetal when they scratched it)

Also, when my car was keyed, the dealer and an independent body shop both recommended that it was better to have the whole panel repainted. Maybe the body shop wanted me to go for the more expensive repair, but the dealer (a service advisor) actually backed them up.
