Someone offered to buy my '05!

I was at the car wash wiping down my car and a guy comes up and tells me he wants to buy my car. I thought he was joking, but he was dead serious. He decided that he is going to buy my car in 2 years for his 57th birthday. He wrote down all the details and said that he would pay me whatever the Blue Book is 2 years from now. His wife said that she was watching me do my detailing and they know it will be in great shape a couple years from now.

It has to be one of the strangest things that I have ever had happen to me. I told him if I was at that point in 2 years I would give him a call. I'm sure in a town this small I will run into him again. It was weird how assured he was that I was driving his next car.

I think he just wanted to boost your ego of owning a BENZ. Don't let it get to your head too much. You should just call him to see if it's a valid number. 2 years is plenty of time for changes.

Actually had a guy in Alamogordo offer the same thing....I think all the nuclear testing in the '40s really screwed up the gene pool down here..

Get it in writing. Two years from now (hell, 6 months from now) oil could be $80/barrel and your car would be worth a lot more than current predicted resale value. Of course KBB would probably reflect this...

If I was still in California I would be skeptical, but people from Las Cruces are a little easier to read and figure out if it is bull***t or not. I talked to this guy for about 10 minutes and I know exactly where he lives and he is currently driving one of those Cadillac trucks (people here love trucks). I am not in the habit of having my time wasted so I am sure he was being serious.

In all reality, I could care less if he buys the car or not, I am just telling the story. I paid cash for this car in hopes of keeping it a while...I only drive it about 40 miles a week and I rarely leave town. I rarely leave home! I figure I might give it to my neice when she turns 16 in 5 years.

give a benz to a 16 year old??? she will never learn to work hard for herself if you do that, you shouldn't even give a 16 year old a car worth more than a couple grand cause chances are they will wreck it within 12 months.

It's good to see Las Cruces is moving up in the world...All I can really remember from living there is seeing a homeless bum on almost every corner, red blowing dust that acted like sandpaper on my new car's paintjob, and a really cheesy huge out door flea market that would make travel unbearable on the weekends since trying to stay out of the way of the crazy Juarez drivers almost was an art form in itself...

So I may interpret you to say that driver skills, car gearing, etc have nothing to do with this? Anyway; mine is bigger, more powerful and therefore better by your own definition.
