door pin got jacked
the metal part that the door pin seats on decided to be a pain and go under the panel and therefore i cannot just place the pin back on. my question:
how to i get that metal rod and stick the door pin back on. do i have to remove the panel, and if so, how.
note 1: stff turns up nothing!
note 2: i already tried sticking a paper clip to try to grap the metal thingy with no success.
i first had the door opened, then i used the remote lock all the doors.
i used a paper clip: use a pliers to bend one of the ends into a "U" shape (small enough to fit in the hole). after you do that, you will have to bend that end at an angle like similar to a golf club. it may take sometime to get the angle right. with a flash light in hand, use the paper clip to make contact, and lots of patience....i was able to line up the door pin. with a steady hand, i use the remote to unlock the doors. pin came up!
The door panel comes off real easy.
There is a screw under the SRS badge, and one under the plastic grab handle on the door panel (to access the screw, remove the cover on the grab handle) carefully pry the door panel off at the edges, guide the metal rod back through the hole and reattach the plastic pin.
The whole process should not take longer than 30 min.

i tried pulling out with a paper clip, but did not get a good grip so i will try with some pliers as recommended.
if not, i'm opening it up!
thanks again gentlemen.
become a surgeon. :-) I see these regularly at swap meets, gun shows,
small tools shop, Sears, Radio Shack, to name a few. Any well equipped
toolbox should have several of these in different sizes. $3-7 avg

Sorry, I was thinking of dinner and didn't finish. No panel removal needed.
Just a flashlight, hemostat, and remote key. Cycle lock several times and
look for movement. Shine light inside and look around - locate threaded
rod. Grab with hemostat. Maneuver to center of opening. Cycle lock to
UNLOCK/UP position to bring rod above surface. Shouldn't take more than
5 mins.
