06' Numbers

Hey guys, I was at my dealership today picking up my car, (my driver's side seat heated melted again- second time) and got some info on the 06 models while I was there.

First, I was going to post the order guide info, but someone beat me to it.HERE

So I all got were the preview performance info - which was in some kind of service bulletin about the new V6's.

0-60 times
C230 Sport - 7.5 (man), 7.9 (auto)
C280 Lux - 6.7 (auto only)
C350 Sport/ Lux - 5.6 (man), 5.9 (auto)

I couldnt find any numbers on 4matic models but I'm guessing they'll have the same spread as the current crop. I also noticed that the new 230's seem to have indentical specs to the 06 IS250's. I guess its a good thing MB is paying attention after all.

C230 is just gonna suck more gas.

Note the C350 accelleration is much faster than what was quoted by MB when the C350 was anounced. 6.4 sec to sixty seemed rather slow for that much HP. Also notice the manual IS FASTER than the 7 speed auto.

Auto's suck.

You know, I did ask about the differences between the acceleration times between the manual models vs the 7G's. The tech advisor told me that the early info they get is almost always different than the print literature - I guess once they hold their service clinic for the mechanics, they'll be closer to print and will have official numbers.

But hasnt MB always quoted the 7G with the same 0-60? I mean, they love to talk about what a great transmission it is, they try and compare it to full clutch automatics (like SMG, F1 or the dual DSG), and its supposed to be very performance oriented. I remember a comparison between the C55 and the new SLK55 - the article loved the SLK's 7G and basically called the C's tranny a hunk'o'junk.

Also, the C230 V6 is tuned differently than the Euro model. The torque range is lower and the 7G gearing has different ratios than what the main MB site quotes for Europe. Looks like DelBomber was right - they needed to re-tune it for the US and they did. I guess this also means that the mileage will be worse than preliminary figures as well.

It looks to me that MB's C class is targeting the younger generation more & more now. Maybe we can call these things "Euricers" from now on..ahahahah!

Those times are impressive and a relief...time of 8+ in this high HP environment would have been a big black mark on the C230 name. Makes my decision to eschew waiting a little less of a slamdunk...of course discounts will be minimal if not nonexistent, and MPGs will be down 10%+

It's been mid-90's in Philly all week...with AC blasting I notice a big loss in smoothness initially...'heat soak' power loss is minimal...MPGs are down significantly with AC running. Overall I'm happy with the performance given all the moaning and groaning by a certain camp over the supercharger heatsoak, it's nowhere near as bad as described on here...still able to zoom from lights and to pull on the highway and from entrance ramps. The proper gear with the 6-speed mitigates the heat soak effect, although shifting at low speeds can be a bit rough.

Thanks for the info...will be interesting to see the published times.

I get about 30-32 mpg on highway w/ A/C on.
