how do these wheels look?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1839391604

I know they are fakes but I like the look. If someone could maybe photoshop them on a silver coupe I would greatly appriciate it.
Thanks
Tim

I'd contact them about getting the weights. I'm guessing that they're very heavy, and if so, I wouldn't get them. Our cars are bad enough in acceleration, and you don't need heavier rims to make it worse.

i will contact about weight. I'm not really too worried about the weight of the wheel. If I go auto-X i will replace wheels with 16 inchers. Does anyone know how much the stock 16 inch wheels weigh?
Thanks

Those are identical replicas of the Brabus Monoblock VI multi-piece wheel. Might as wheel get a Brabus Wheel Cover.

Not the same but...

You say that you don't care about weight.. you should! The unsprung mass on the wheels is the best place to gain power for accelleration. Try these on... they are one of the lightest out there... they go for about $450 each in 17" sizes and are available up to 19"!!!

Peet

Oh yea, this is the SSR GT-3 wheel. They also come as GT-1 that don't have the screws on the lip.

Furthermore, you can go to www.tirerack.com and see them on your coupe!

Peet: I do care about weight. But I would rather sacrifice a few pounds for better looking rims. The guy emailed me back and they are 2.8 lbs heavier than the stock 16 inch rims. so its not too bad.

Has anyone ever determined the weight of the stock rims?

I know the C7s weigh 44lbs (courtesy of tommy).

Cheers, BT

That must be with tires on them. ?
Will a couple lbs really make that much difference. I will be able to put 255 in back and 235 up front with a lower profile for better control in the twisties. Now all i need is a good set of springs

Oops...that is correct - weight with tires.

Reduction of unsprung weight is a key factor for improving a car's performance.

That was also on my trusty bathroom scale, so allow for a high std deviation.

I remember that SCC had an article about 1 1/2 years ago, comparing unsprung weight to sprung weight (supported by suspension). The factor to get the unsprung weight to equal sprung was pretty high, meaning that I can eat many, many chalupas until I have the same effect as an increase of a pound in wheel weight. So, choose wisely, grasshopper!

SSR GT1 - in 17" size is around 17-18lbs... VERY LIGHT. Basic OEM wheels typically are in the 23lbs neighborhood. This 5 pound savings is a huge diff. A couple of pounds - don't know how much it would do.

here's a link to a table of common wheel weights - no Merc weights though

Visit tirerack.com, they will show you your car with different wheels, they sell carlson 1/5 for E-class, so I'd expect them to offer for your car.

I have a friend with a C-coupe and those Brabus replicas, they look nice!, only difference is that the wheels doesn't the brabus engrave

Actually unsprung weight helps handling, the wheels can respond quicker to surface irregularities. The real performance issue comes from rotating mass. Increasing the rotating mass at 2 drive wheels a few pounds each is huge. Think about how much people pay for aluminum drive shafts, alloy pulleys, lighter flywheels and clutches all for more power. It's all part of the 15% or so you lose between the motor and the rear wheels. Putting on heavier wheels mean greater RWHP loses and you will notice it. That 5 pounds you plan on adding may be equivalent to 50 pounds of car weight in terms of performance. Also think about diameter of the tires. Changing from 16" to 17" rims will give you a lower drive ratio and slower off the line performance unless you really get low 17" tire but then you'll sacrafice ride. My daughter, which as about your age Timmy, wanted cool 17" wheels on her Mustang. Now it's daddy, the car rides rough, daddy the car is slower. I warned her but she wanted the cool wheels.
