Is power braking safe for the car?!?!

Hey guys I'm pretty new to concepts such as power braking. I'm honestly new to driving a car pretty much since my first car was a chevy trailblazer. Anyways...is power braking harmful in any way to the car (I have an 05 C230 AT)? and also what are the proper techniques, and what is about the maximum rpm range I should be looking for?

It's also a good thing I never hard launched by revving and dropping the car from neutral to drive. My friend with a 325 said it wouldnt hurt the car...but I didnt believe him because he bs's about everything anyways.

Also while I'm at it, the other night for fun I turned off esp and gunned onto a road out of a neighborhood road. Needless to say what followed was a series of massive oversteer manuvers until I got the car under control (never been so scared in my life). I didnt think it would be so easy with this little power to skid out of control that easily. Has anyone else experienced this? BTW it would have been fun if A) I had known it was coming, and B) if it had been a deserted road.

Thanks for all of you help guys.

I'm actually glad I dont have more power than I do right now. I would get into to much trouble.

Besides doesnt everyone want to burn some rubber every now and then?

Lol, it's possible to lose control in any car if you don't know what you're doing. Power braking is alright for the car if you don't do it all the time. It puts some wear on the brakes because that's pretty much what's stopping u from going. Tire spin also wears the treads. I'd say as long as you don't do it none stop it's fine for the car.
Putting ESP off on the car doesn't completely shut off the system, just puts up its tolerance before it intervenes. I've driven my car pretty hard and i've never lost much control in it. If you were that much trouble controlling it you really need to lay off the gas pedal :p

Beggars cant be choosers Saprissa. Besides I wouldnt trade my car with any of those except the AMG's.

I havent felt a car go out of control like mine since my cousin skidded out of control in his mom's 323i and completely scratched up the rear wheel. Man he was freaking out.

I still dont really see how I did it. I mean I did punch it as hard as I could, but still.......

excites your girlfriend
you need to find a big empty parking lot and then turn the esp off and see what the car does. i'm guessing you have an automatic transmission, neutral drops are a bad idea, a really bad idea. you should have gotten the 6 speed if you wanna have some fun.

Holding the brake and the accelerator at the same time should not do any long term damage to the car, but it will wear down your brake pads and your tires. Dropping a car from Neutral into Drive (we used to call this a neutral drop, but I've heard it called other things) while at high RPMs can ruin your transmision..... not a smart thing to do.

But seriously, if these are the things you like doing with your car, you have thr wrong car.

If you think ESP off is fun try putting the car into DYNO mode. No abs, no break assis, and completely no ESP... i must suggest that you do this in a very wide and open parking lot.
