eclectic assortment of cars
Bringing this thread back from the dead. I have just purchased off German eBay HVAC controller 203 830 19 85 for my 05 C55 AMG (per the datacard, my car's 'in service' date from August 2004). I haven't winter driven the car for about six or seven years, but this year will be doing so as I've cut down the fleet somewhat! Here's hoping the rest function will work, as that's why I paid such a premium for the controller.

I too have 1985 and my w203 (while not an AMG, just a 203.040) was built 11/2004.

Did you add the solar and smog sensors?

Just put on new Kumhos. I drove it a couple winters after I first bought it (in 2011-2012 if I remember right) and I think I'll add sandbags to the trunk. I did that with my old 202 C43.

I haven't added any sensors yet - I'm just keen on the Rest function, and provided that works, will probably leave it at that. But sooner or later OCD may kick in and I'll investigate the other sensors. But I thought it needed other motors/flaps to function 100% anyway? I posted literally just after I placed the order on eBay, so it'll probably be a few weeks before it gets here from Germany anyway.

I also just took delivery of my Star/Xentry clone and laptop, so I should be fairly self-sufficient soon. Looking forward to this mod....now if only I could figure out how to get the Rest function in my wife's GLK250 Bluetec. I actually picked up a salvage HVAC controller from a dead C63 in the yard, and tried it out in the GLK. The Rest function did work, and seemingly just about everything else, but the centre vents did not blow air, so unfortunately I removed it and went back to the stock unit. Sigh.

I’m not sure how to, but did you normalize, or try to retrain the w204 unit?

DAS will certainly help.

sensors - digital doesn’t read dew point - so the smog is needed. While it won’t activate the non existent charcoal filter - it does give live information to the controller. Sun, again/same as smog, will not adjust the missing servos - but it does aid in A/C efficiency.

Thanks for that, I'll look into adding the sensors!!

In the meantime, I added some C63 seats to my car. I will post about that separately, or in the thread about it.

Here’s the “original” thread on it...
I should have responded with pictures. Dang it.
