warranty on the windows... hmm...

My dealer gave me their recommended guy, who comes to the stealership to do the tint. Cost $179 for my coupe, and was done at the dealership.

Sorry dude...i think that Park Place outsources to AltaMere which is down Lemmon Ave. They dont do the tint themselves. And by "qualified" installer, they probably just mean that they approved these guys to do it.

This is actually odd. I was going to Dallas for a week recently, and I really didn't need my car once I was there. I called Park Place to get my windows tinted. They stated that they didn't recommend it and wouldn't do it. WTF???

I then went to the Audi dealership close to them and asked who did their tinting. I got the name of two places - one of the places had tinted both of my friends A6's.

Anyway, of these two high profile shops, one wouldn't even consider it, and the other wanted me to sign a waiver, "Not responsible for damage to electronics".

I scrapped the idea of window tint until next summer.

well that's about what they told me. they made a big deal about only getting the Tint done at the time I bought the car, and about how it would do something to void the warranty if you get aftermarket tint. Still haven't had a chance to call and get the specifics, but I will.

I have 16% all around on my Jetta (a violation in Florida for the front windows) for about three years now. Never so much as a question from the fuzz. (Of course I have had the good sense to roll down my window the few times I've been pulled over.)

I'm likely going to get 16% all around on my 230K very soon.

$150 extra to tint window on a benz?

I went to get a price on getting the windows tinted on my 2001 C320 and the tint guy said it was going to be another 150$ because because they've gotta cover the door panels with plastic due to the side curtain air bags. Sounded like a bunch of BS to me. What do yall think?

the only extra thing a tint shop is required to do is place moleskin on the strip to prevent scrathing the tint when going up and down.

tint shop only add moleskin on the strip to prevent scrathing the tint. my 2005 C-Class doesn't have the moleskin, i had to redo my quantum tint all over, wasted nearly 200 bucks.

moleskin should cost no more than 20 bucks per window, 25 if you're unlucky.

Dealer threw in tint for free on my car and no moleskin was used. All the windows look like crap and I've since moved out of the state where I bought the car....but I doubt I'll have them retinted.

Really?
I've been looking for a good inexpensive place to get this done in the bay area.

Tint shop recommendations in West LA

Hey guys!
I am expecting my new car in less than a month so im looking at tinting it. I searched but most of the threads were for places in the oc or san diego.

1) Any recommendations for places in west LA? Do they do moleskin?
2) How much should I look at spending?
3) What's the best type of tint that doesn't interfere with radio reception and the smartkey?
4) My car is going to be a black on black c230 sports sedan. What % do you guys recommend? I realise anything in the front is illegal in cali however i kind of want the front and back to match. Not really looking for limo but deffinatly do not want anything too light otherwise i'd keep the stock blue hue.

I realise this topic has been beat to deat but maybe we can get a sticky of all the great tint shops in the main areas of the nation?
Thanks in Advance for the help

Don't know what moleskin is.
for regular tint (lifetime warranty) should only run about $120
do'nt know about the other questions, but i have dealt with these people and they are awesome. good luck.

- Not in West LA, but it's in Reseda. Ed's Window Tinting. 7003 Canby Ave. 818-344-4831. Does a great job and will replace tint if it scratches. If I do my car, I'm going to go to him.

- There's a place on Van Nuys Blvd., just south of the 101. I can't remember the name of it, but a lot of people go there as well.

- 7 windows total, anywhere from $175 - $350 depending on where you go.

- Can't help on this one.

- 35% all around. If you don't want limo tint, don't want it too light, want it to match, 35% all around would be perfect for your needs.

Huperoptik ceramic tints won't interfere with the reception.

Pics found here. Huper Optik ceramic tint should run about $300 - $450 installed. One of the best tints you could get.

Getting Car Tinted Tomorrow

No, this is not another what tint I should get, but rather WOOO I'M GETTING MY CAR TINTED... I just got off the phone with tint shop... Got an appointment at 10:30 am tomorrow... I'm getting 25% all around (the lowest I can go in FL) and still keep the same tint all around... As of now, I'm leaving the front windshield as is... Finally, my c230 can stay cool in the heat... Anyways, its costing $125 for the 5 windows...

I also did some searching and I read no need for moleskins on the newer models? I have an 2006... Can someone just confirm that for me?

Anyways, I'm happy ... I'll post pictures once its done...
