I would tint, but wouldn't go 5% like you are thinking. I think that starts to pull away from the class of the car and goes a little ghetto.

I would do a 15% or even a 20%. It will be dark enough to protect your interior, offer some privacy, and enhance your looks, but without pulling the attention away from your car and giving it all to the windows.

Just my opinion though. Pics of your car? I would like to see.

I chose not to tint this time because the factory glass is very sun resistant. The interior is noticably cooler than in most other cars after being in the sun all day (I live in the desert). The factory glass already has a rather heavy blue tint to it.

Aftermarket tint is therefore more a matter of choice than necessity. If you like the appearance, then tint. Really dark tinting is not liked by law enforcement, and may get you unwanted attention. A windshield screen is great for when you are parked.

The factory glass may be a little sun resistant but it's not very much. From what I've heard it's about 60% light transmission. So yes, it's better than most cars without anything but I wouldn't say it's good by any means.

You're in NJ so you don't have to worry about cops hassling you. Here in PA we can't go more than 30% so I just put 30% on and am quite happy with it. It looks classy, cuts back quite noticably on interior heat, gives some privacy, and it's not a problem backing up at night.

I've run 5% on a vehicle as well and although it had extreme privacy and a cool interior, but it was frankly quite scary backing up at night.

Anyways, if I could I probably would have put on 20%, but having the 30% on top of the factory tint looks perfect now that I have it on. It's a night and day difference so I imagine anything more would only enhance it that much.

I regretted getting my past C230 tinted as dark as I did, it was very hard to see out of at night. Sure the car looked great with the dark tint but it wasn't worth the risk. Also, I like the blue tint that comes on the newer C230's.

If you've got a black on black car, I think dark tint looks nice. I like the stock blue tint, but that's because it's more prominent with my Midnight Blue exterior and Ash interior.

In your case, if I had a black on black, I'd tint the windows. Maybe 35front/20 rear.

In NJ you can tint anything behind the driver - if you do anything else it draws unwanted attention - I know from 1st hand accounts.

IMO, 5% would take away the classy look of the car. Also, if you're going to tint, do all the side windows the same. As for the back, a tad darker.
My combo is 50% all 4 windows, 35% rear. With a black interior it actually looks darker. The law inforcement in my area is strict my area when it comes to tint.

Yup, that's for sure. Cali 5.0 are pretty strict on tint in general.

Yea, little tip.. The few times I have been stopped by a cop (of course for the stupid's *****), they let me go with a tint ticket. I sure rather pay $60 than having to do with a moving violations...

Tint. Legal tint. It's a pain in the *** to deal with coppers. It's more of a pain in the *** having to remove it and having it reinspected at the station. NO FUN.

that's a good choice to go 20 all the way around. Im pretty sure cops wouldn't care about that. I have 5 percent on the rear window, 5 percent on the rear passenger windows, and 35 up front. In retrospect i would've at least made the rear window 15/20 for backing up at night. As far as cops, they only care about the tint on the driver and front passenger windows, so if you see a cop, roll down your windows

tint is always a must for me. i usually get them done within 1-2 weeks of picking up a new car. with black interior, you can't go wrong with either 35% or 20%. i choose 35% b/c i can see better at night and the black interior makes the tint look darker. if i have a car with light interior, i go with 15 or 20%. either way, it'll look hot! the factory tint helps minimally, but combined with aftermarket tint, really helps keep the car abit cooler.

I have a black c230 coupe w/e black interior and I wish i've gotten tints when i got the car. The thing heats up so much and so fast under the sun. One time i left a bottle of water in the car, went to class, got back, had a sip, and burnt myself! I live in cali so i think a tint is an absolute necessity nowadays. The lease on the car is almost done, so i'm not gone spend money on a tint now. I also love the enhanced appearence...

Tint

Sounds like a plan. I have an '06 onyx black/ black leather C 350 and have been mulling over my tinting options. This thread has helped me pick a tint level (35%).

Now I just need to find someone in Tennessee (or even the south) who can do Madico Onyx tint. You won't believe how hard it is to find a dealer down here.

I have debated the tint or not-tint issue as well. I have a silver C230K Sport Sedan with a black interior. I usually always tint my car within the first week that I get it, but since it has that slight blueish color I dont know what to do. Any suggestions for Silver on Black?

That's what I did (35 sides/20 rear) I don't get bothered by cops either.

Did you get blue tint or is that just the stock engrazed blue showing from the light? If you didn't get blue tint...hmmm...making me wonder if I should spend more money to get mine done. I have a guy in LA that I've been going to since I was 16, but just never really wanted to tint (simply because of the blue engrazed to the windows).

Looks great, by the way.
