LOL

No I mean when u put the key in the ignition and then push odometer reset switch 3 time then scroll thru the list till you see Dynometer Mode and turn it on then start your car.

Turns off ESP, BAS & ABS.

Puts everything in your control.

I use it when i feel the need for some fun!

No, I have not done that. I'll have to search the forums on the steps on de-activating the ESP. Have you done this?

Yes I have! It's kind of scary at first but I love the feeling.
I usually leave ESP on for normal Driving. I only go in this mode once in a while.

On my 05 it dosn't work the same way. I searched and found the old instructions but is there an update for the 05?

Thanks

Great, it works.

Putting key in position 2 for a bit following dyno mode brings up the oil measurment.

Thanks

I thought you could check the oil level in the settings menu as long as the engine is off. Anyone ?

Dyno mode makes your car super fast and uncontrollable, pro race drivers should only use it.

Getting a 2003 into Dyno Mode

Hey guys I have a 2003 C230 Kompressor Sedan. I recently did an oil change at my mechanic's and I am now completing the rest of "Service B" on my own (man this is a load of cash saved). However at the shop we had a lot of trouble determining how much to put in. My mechanic tried to "eye ball it out" with how much oil came out my car which was around 8 quarts to his perspective, maybe less. So we put about a little over 7 1/2 quarts back in. Then we started up the car and turned it off and ran the Oil Level Check on the dash, it told us to reduce the oil level. So we took raised it back up to drain some and took out about 1/4 of a quart. Started the car, turned it off, and ran the test again...said to reduce oil level again. We got a bit frustrated (thinking why didn't they just put dipsticks in the first place) they just raised me up on the lift while I was in the car and drained another 1/4 of a quart then told me to run the test. It came out "OK" finally. So I leave the shop to pick up my girlfriend from work and on the way home I was going down this steep hill and the warning came on telling me I have to reduce my oil level. Since I have heard the oil level sensor is towards the front of the sump (not sure still) I just thought I'll take some out tomorrow or something so I resetted the error when I dropped my girly home. That night I ordered a Motiv Oil Extractor because I decided to start doing maintenance on my own from now on. The next day the warning light comes back on. My fluid evacuation machine should come in this week so I thought might as well get my car into this "dyno mode" I have heard about to see how much I should take out (because after calculating it all out....there's probably just a little bit over 7 quarts in my sump right now). I searched many threads talking about putting '01, '02, and '05 models into Dyno Mode but I have also heard that the 03's seem to have a completely different way. I still haven't found out how to put an '03 C230 into Dyno Mode. If anybody can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I believe the C230 uses the same method to enter dyno mode as the C32. Here is a copy of a sticky on the C32 forum that give a step by step process to enter Dyno Mode.

Give some thanks to 1FASTC32 for this info.

Dyno Mode
To Dyno your C32, you will need to do the following:
1. To start, the key must be removed from the ignition.
2. Insert the key and turn to position 1.
3. Immediately press and hold the trip odometer reset button until the instrument cluster beeps. There is no visual message, only an audio beep. Be patient, this takes around 40 seconds.
4. Press the lower menu button (it looks like two sheets of paper, the one with the writing in the background behind the blank one) 5. Press the up arrow button.
6. Press the "+" sign to disable the Traction System (turn "ON" test mode) 7. Start the engine, the traction system is now disabled.
To return to normal, remove the key and restart the engine. The traction control warning should no longer be in the cluster. If it is, shut the engine off and remove the key again. Then insert the key and turn to position 1. Note that the DYNO test screen is displayed immediately. Push the "-" button to enable the traction system (turn "OFF" test mode)
NOTE: When you first turn the key to position 1, ESP DYNO Test screen pops up, then after 1-2 seconds it may disappear while faults are displayed. If you weren't fast enough in pressing the "-" button before codes were displayed, just wait until all codes cycle by, then the ESP DYNO Test screen will reappear.
No, this doesn't work for any car but the 203, before you ask.
Enjoy, and I'm not buying you new tires!
On cars equipped with Command, to enter the diagnostic screen press and hold the following keys for about 8 seconds: Mute + 1 + 3

Nope, that the pre 03 method. The 03 method has been posted on here.
Since I no longer have mine I purged it from memory.

Alright, is this the right one?

Dyno Mode:

-The car has to be on the outside temperature display. Remove the key.

-Reinsert the key, turn it to position one. Very quickly, press the reset button 3 times.

-A screen displaying 12.0UBV (or something similar) will display. Use the up and down arrows to scroll through to "ESP Dynamometer Test Mode," and select "on."

-Car is in Dyno Mode and will remain there until you select "off."

Give it a shot, if the car self destructs, I apologize in advance.

-You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around, that's what it's all about.

Thank you so much!!! It worked!! But my car exploded.

Well I got it into dyno mode...but my whole initial purpose of getting it into the mode was to see how much oil (I heard dyno mode shows you the measurement in quarts/litres) I have in my sump...but it still doesn't show the amount...I guess this wasn't added on until later?

It does.

Go to dyno mode, the flip the up arrow. Look for the screen with the engine code and VIN. There's a line that has real-time oil level. Look carefully.

Alright, thanks a lot slammer. So it's only dashes alongside the edge of the screen showing the oil level? No quart amount showing on the screen?

When you get to that screen, turn the ignition to the 2nd position and you will get your reading.

Alright thanks Scott.

Guys, I got a reading of 5.3 quarts in my 1.8L M271. Is this normal?! I thought it was supposed to be 7 quarts! If anything, the only thing I have done is actually drain exactly 2 quarts then the computer told me to add back one so I did. Now it's just at 5.3 quarts? I did the math in my head and I had 6. I am really worrying right now if the problem is that I can't add or subtract right.

Did you run your car till warm, turn it off and let it sit for about 10 minutes before checking the reading. Also, you might want to check it several different times, in the same level location to make sure the readings are consistent.
