Dyno Mode - All you want to know

Trey that is the pre-facelift procedure and will not work on the facelift cars.
Matt - you've got the procedure right, but make sure the display screen is on the odometer. It won't work unless it shows the odometer.

Thanks for the replies guys. I had tried just holding it. That only reset the trip odometer. I tried a couple more times after seeing the videos of others doing it. They had a more lax attitude toward getting into dyno mode. I was pressing reset so frantically I don't think the computer had a chance to register the input, so I slowed down. Once I put the key in the 1st slot, I casually pressed reset three times and got into dyno mode. Now my tires are NOT safe from my lead foot!
Thanks again!

And just so everyone is clear on this - do not use dyno mode for the purpose of doing dough nuts! It will blow the power steering pump. Documented time and again on here.

I then did the electronic oil level measure while in dyne mode, it said my oil level was okay, and then used the dyno menu and it said I had 7.4qt oil.
After starting my car, dyne mode was still up and I could see my oil level fluxuating, usually in the 6qt range, but saw it get down to 5.9 then shoot back up to around 6.4.

Make sure the computer is currently showing the odometers, trip and full. Next turn off the car, remove the key, and try again.
Pop in the key, turn one click, and press the odo reset button 3-5 times fast. you will see the option to put it in dyno mode, press the + button, and with it highlighted turn off the car. Once you turn it on again it will be in dyno mode. Once it is started you will see warnings for ABS and traction control. The ABS idiot light will be illuminated on the dashboard.
I do not think it will produce any more power. At least my butt dyno does not register more power.
I usually use it during the dry summer months, so that when I launch, the brakes are not applied if I loose traction. My car is a manual, so it is easy to break traction. If I am making a left across traffic, the last thing I want is to have the brakes applied.

I had no change in the ability to do a burnout. maybe because I have good tire and had alot of weightin the car....I would just use it to set the oil level and that's about it .the car is not that powerful but I love it .

What is this stuff about the PS pump giving in?
Just bought a W203 with manual gearbox, and having used a miata for the last 3 winters (great fun) I must say that not being able to fully disengage ESP in a safe matter is horrible news to me

So from what I have found regarding this issue so far, is that full lock on the steering seems to kill the PS pump while in dyno mode. Does this mean that as long as I stay of full lock I will be fine, or is there more to it?
We still have snow here, so if anyone knowledgeable would care to elaborate it would be much appreciated![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Thanks

Well Dyno mode does not kill the pump actually it is the driver who does it by holding the wheel all the way over and that is what causes the issue. I have played with Dyno mode many times and never had an issue so don't worry about it.

Tried Dyno Mode today, on a closed coarse! No donuts or anything
Just laid into the throttle and put down two nice long patches of rubber.
Not really what the car is made for but I had to test it at least once.
and it worked very well!

I own 2013 E550 4matic. Put it in dyno mode. Tried hard acceleration hoping it would spin rear tires, didn't happen
How else can I have fun in dyno mode in a 4matic car? Have anyone floored it in dyno mode on ramps and/or backroads?
