Golly. decisions, decisions....

OK guys, tell me not to trade my C55 for an IS350. Got this itch for a new car and the IS350 looks pretty cool with all the gadgets and nice interior.

Maybe I should run over and have a test drive and see first hand how I like the way it drives.

Ricky (Lexus guru), what's your verdict on the IS350?

The GS has let me down.
The IS250 AWD as well.

The IS350 was amazing, however would I pick it over an AMG? W203.. maybe, but the W204, I need to see.

I'd pick it over any E46 and E90 currently on the market (non M3).

I'm awaiting the V8 version to come out, and hopefully it'll come closer to a 50/50 distribution. Exciting things are to come from Lexus not just in the next ten years, but every six months from now.

It's a great time to be a car enthusiast, because in the end we all are winning

if you want speed then get a is350 and if you want luxury then go MB 350 SS. the is350 may be luxurious as well, but at the end of the day it's still a toyota.

And I don't think there's anything wrong in being a Toyota. At least in my opinion, I found the overall 'luxury' in the IS350 to be levels ahead of any W203 I could get my little hands on.

But then again, if I really wanted something 'luxury' I could stick to my moms LS430. The great thing about the IS350 is that it still has the leather seats, the high definition navigation, the bluetooth, and active cruise control, and hundreds of other small things that Mercedes, as a 'leader' of the automotive industry, should have included as standard on their cars.

But you're right, at the end of the day, Lexus which was formed in the late 80's, and has had less than 20 years to build themselves to a point in which they have surprassed every other car maker in terms of reliabilty, customer satisfaction, and have die hard enthusiasts from other companies trying to defend their respective brand marquees, are still just rebadged Toyotas.

As I just said before, brand loyalty is foolish, and the consumer wins out with competition. So what if the IS350 can't handle on a dime like an M3, it's still upping the bar for standard sport sedans.

Why was the G35 amazing? Because it almost displaced the E46 and had a bunch of BMW babies crying 'but it's got no heritage' or 'it's just a Nissan!'

Why is the new IS amazing? Same thing, different babies.

I can't wait for the W204, and the E90 M3. You know why.

I've really thought about the possiblity of an IS350 replacing the X5 and have brought it up to my dad a few times, mainly because I'll be ditching my vehicle anyways to give to my sister, but a few things holding me back are the lack of options and information ont he IS350.. and the lack of a V8.

Although magazine compros are awesome, I just use them for the numbers, never the subjective choice on which car gets picked over what other car. I'm sure the rest of you guys agree, after all, isn't Mercedes like 30something on most JD Power surveys?

me, I would pick the car whose look I like best (provided it can be bought with a manual transmission). I don't care much for the performance figures since 99% of the time I would drive the posted speed limits

Well there you go! As far as I know, the IS350 comes only with the 6 speed automatic, so it's out of the running.

For me, I'd have to get whatever automatic I can Paddles are just sick! :p

230Kompressor: It looks a lot like a tC IMO. I think the IS350 is a four door tC, of course with a few more things, but on the sheet metal, yeah.

Actually correct that, it's a better / sharper styled four door tC. I really love the new design Lexus is going with, well, at least right now anyways :o
