If not, then you are REALLY getting ripped off, and your dealer must have your picture in their office so they can "see you coming".
there was no other repair for the BMW beside this one. It's not that unreliable !

I don't have the itemized bills because i tossed them after trading in the car. I only have this one because one time I scanned it.

Unlike other people, I always would always service my car at the dealers, and that's the price the dealers charged (i serviced my car at two dealers, one in mountain view and one in santa clara)

anyway, i don't own that car anymore and $250 & $ 600 sound fine to me.

Yes, but the bill you posted was not itemized so we have no idea what the service cost vs. the sunroof repair. You cannot use the total that you paid as a comparison to what the regular service would cost for an MB.

Again, if you pay $800-$1000 for JUST service, you are were being ripped off! If this price includes the replacement of tires, rotors, or any other parts or repairs that are not part of normal maintenance (which I suspect is the case), then again, you are not comparing apples to apples.

I too have always used the dealer to service my cars. I have owned both BMWs and MBs, as well as other brands. I have never paid anywhere near $800 for a normal scheduled maintenance.

Service A

I just got my car back from a Service A and it only cost me $157. Not bad for a glorified oil change....yeah right.

as soon as my FREE Service A & Service B maintenance period is over on my Benzos,
I'm taking the car over to AUGUST EUROPEAN in San Diego.
They do the same work for $65 hour/labor rate. Been working on MB's for over 30 years ! Alignment = $65 / Service A = $65 / Service B = $130
Only additional charges is cost of oil and dumping fee.

Ok thanks guys. My area charges about as much as all of yours do. I think the price for service is way too steep. I know Jaguar and BMW offer free service. Only Mercedes is expensive. Does anyone here own a Lexus and if so how much is the service? Thanks.

I checked the information on edmunds to see how badly i got ripped off. This is what i found:

car = bmw 3-series

"Maintenance
This is the estimated expense of two types of maintenance: scheduled and unscheduled. Scheduled maintenance is the performance of factory-recommended items at periodic mileage and/or calendar intervals. Unscheduled maintenance includes wheel alignment and the replacement of items such as the battery, brakes, headlamps, hoses, exhaust system parts, taillight/turn signal bulbs, tires and wiper blades/inserts. Estimated tire replacement costs are supplied to Edmunds.com by The Tire Rack, Inc"

i just leased a 06 C230 and was told the first service isn't till 12k miles, other than the 3k miles checkup.

personally i dont let my car go over 3k miles between oil changes but if they insist its ok to go 12k then, i might as well let them do it and let them be responsible if there is any damage.

Do you not understand the difference between Scheduled Maintenance, and unscheduled maintenance? You cannot compare the cost of one to the other (which is what you are doing).

NOBODY offers free service. If you believe that, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

If you do not have to pay for scheduled maintenance when you bring it in, it's because the cost of this was included in what you paid for the car.

Your car uses Mobil 1 synthetic oil. It can easily go 12k miles between oil changes without causing damage. If you purchase a car that uses regular oil, then 3k-5k changes are normal.

This is a smart thing to do. It's also one of the benefits of not paying up front for service.

got it.

bmw costs are a little bit higher in the 4th and 5th year.

Mercedes C-class sure depreciates big time every year.

i requested to do in-between service oil change, so it cost me extra 80 bucks for the old change to do that, i did it at 6000 miles, and just got done my srvice A, it was less than 150, planning on doing another between service oil changet at 18000 miles

Why? Do you enjoy wasting money getting unnecessary oil changes?
