My dealer charges $ 219.00 for service A. With an AAA card you save 10%.

I've not had any work done by anyone other than me since the warranty ran out, but my dealer charges $100 per hour for labor.

Yep. Labor cost is the most expensive part of the bill.

You can't do much about insurance or gas or registration fees, you can do the oil change yourself for $45 in under an hour without getting dirty as the oil is pumped out through the dipstick tube (you know, the one without a dipstick) and the oil filter is on top. Don't know about you, but 200 after tax greenbacks is more than I make in an hour. I'ld like to see how much you are smiling when the 2yr + B service combination sets you back $600.

Wow, I didn't know service in US is so expensive. We pay S$80/hr for labour (US$45). Service A costs about S$300 (US$170). Will be going for my Service B soon...

Almost 3,000 bucks?! Wow! How old was the car and how much mileage did it have. This couldn't have been just an oil change and brake check, or was it?

the car was 6 years old and had about 72k miles. The bill was for changing the brake pads and repairing the sunroof. After the free service ended, I usually paid about $800 ~ $1000 whenever I brought it in for service.

That's why the costs of services A and B for MB don't bother me

First, the bill you posted is not itemized so it makes no sense as a comparison. Your bill included a repair. That's like saying "I paid $3000 for a new transmission, so I don't mind paying $1000 to change the oil". I suspect if you are paying $800-$1000, this price too includes some kind of repair. If not, then you are REALLY getting ripped off, and your dealer must have your picture in their office so they can "see you coming".

You lot should be grateful that ur servicing /labour costs are low and that u actually get free servicing for a certain period.

In UK our labour charges are $200 per hour and NONE of the servicing is free -A service is around $500 and B Service is over $1000.

Also the cost of the cars here are considerably higher - a well speced 230K saloon is around $52000 brand new at least...

Even more reason to learn how to do it yourself.

We cannot service the cars ourselves becasue we then shall loose our 3 year warranty if the car is not serviced as per ASYST and has a MB stamped service book by the Stealer... For the first 3yrs we have to have MB at least service the cars for us - if we do not have a MB service history after the first 3 years then after that we shall loose our 30 years MOBILO warranty which relates to bodywork corrosion - in UK W210/220 are renowned suffering from rust/corrosion and get out claws that MB UK is using is the MB servcie history....

Does MB require you to service through them when you lease?

Under leasing I think they will sell u a service package (incorporated it into the leasing price) or alternatively make u have the vehicle serviced at the Stealership under the agreement at your own cost - leasing service package would work out cheaper I guess. I have not taken out a lease.
