Well, I have searched the forum and have come to this conclusion:

C230 Kompressor Sports Coupe with Bose system

Door front speakers: 6 1/2"
Door Rear speakers: 5 1/4"
Door tweeter: ??? "
Center Speaker: ??? "
"Subwoofer" : 6x9 "

I'm not totally sure about these sizes though. I am getting ready to pull my Bose system out and buy all new speakers and stuff and I just want to make sure on the speaker sizes. Can anyone verify these speaker sizes for me?

Thanks

The bass module, not a sub-woofer, is located between the cargo compartment wall and quarter panel on the passenger side. Remove the access hatch in the cargo compartment wall and look to the front of the car.

View through hatch:

Well this IS a subwoofer, at least that is what Mercedes says on their website about the 7 speaker Bose system. That is why in the first post I had 'sub woofer' in quotes, because it's called a subwoofer, but I don't consider a 6x9 a sub woofer.

Anyways, does anyone else know anything about these speaker sizes? Surely someone here has replaced their system....

Searching on Coupe Bose Specs in the W203 forum yields:

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...upe+Bose+Specs

Previous posts on this issue by Coupsters who have driven the sedan say the Bose systems are substantially different. At least in configuration, they are different.

There are ten speakers in the Sedan. Info direct from Bose:
1 x 2" center fill in dash
2 x 1.5" tweeter in mirror patches
2 x 6.5" wide-range in frt. door
2 x 2" tweeters, mounted coaxially with...
2 x 6.5" wide-range in rear doors
1 x 9" low-mass Nd TM woofer in package shelf

There are eight speakers in the Coupe. Again, from Bose:
1 x 3" center fill in dash (why larger than sedan I don't know)
2 x 1.5" tweeter in mirror patches
2 x 6.5" wide-range in frt part of door
2 x 6.5" wide-range in rear part of door
1 x 4x6" woofer in rt side trunk trim

They both use 6 channels of "customized" equalization and Audiopilot noise compensation. (I don't know about power specs)

Obviously, these are Bose specs. for Bose Systems. Bose wouldn't have any specs. for non-Bose systems.

You can verify all this by leaving an e-mail at their website, Bose.com.

C230K with no BOSE
Hi all,

For those who do not have the Bose system, can a subwoofer can be installed where the Bose 6x9 speaker system is in the passenger trunk compartment?

Does the Bose 6x9 speaker box exist for a non-Bose system? I'm just thinking they just install the 6x9 if you buy the upgrade.

Thanks

There are no 6x9 speakers in the W203.

You'll need to remove the whole door trim to remove the speaker and also you better off making a new base for your new speaker, the orginal speaker base is really flimsy (made of plastic). As far as i know, u can try to fit 7" driver in the door panel (in sedan at least). nobody try that before though.

With the tweeter, i mount it outside the original tweeter place, give u a very good staging, you'll need to cut a hole though.

Go to the 'other' sites for detail instructions. Basically there's 3 screw need to b remove, one behind that 'SRS air bag' plastic pieces, one below the hand rest and i forgot the other one.
