W203 European-plate Trunk Insert thread
greetingz,
Can you tell me the procedure for swapping out a US spec mount for a European one? Is it fairly simple?
Also, do you know the part number for one in black (color code 040)?
thanks!
Jim
Even though it's a euro-spec part, I'm going to see if my local dealer can order it in black(040).
Euro-only spec parts don't even show up on MBUSA computers.
MB is not so German after all !
We have the following colors available:
189 opal black 1 of 2 sold
197 obsedian black
359 tanzanite blue
744 silver sold
904 blue sold
994 amethyst (my personal favorite)
We only have ONE of each color (except 189) and can NOT get factory painted inserts in any other color (as these get delivered primered when ordered from MB).
mail us at info@MBenzNL.com when interested
greetingz,

Note: you will need to slightly modify the euro insert to fit into a US spec trunk as well as redrilled the lic plate inorder to mount it on.

When you say "slightly modify", what exactly do you mean? I was aware of having to re-drill the license plate holes for the US license, but I didn't know there are other modifications necessary.
Can you clarify?
or Steve, can you?

edit: you know the California license plate with palm trees is appealing to me (and the redhead of course). Anyone know off the top of their head $ at the DMV?

Come on now, brotha! Get the trunklid.
There's no need to drill holes.
Get a EURO to US plate conversion kit from MBWerks.
A small bracket uses the existing holes in the Euro-plate bezel and then the bracket has the right dimensions and holes to screw on the US plate.
No drilling required.
I'll have my currently MBWorld posting-challenged husband,
show you his step-by-step picture-filled process later.
I got my Euro-Plate Bezel from Steve (MBenzNL) during his last SoCal trip,
along with rear Parktronic bumper strip & PTS sensors, and COMAND.
