Need INFO on 2006 C230 sedan
hello all i currently own a 2004 honda coupe V6 and am looking to get the 2006 C230 sedan. there are some things i just needed to know. i was going through previous posts on info for prices and stuff but i just want to know:
1) is the C230 body style going to be updated soon because that happens a lot with cars and you end up going DOH!
2) only options i see that are a must is the xenon lights really. any opinons?
3) any incentives on the 2006 model? (i'm guessing probably not...what if we already own a mercedes i know they sometimes send out coupons??...)
4) what can i expect for an OUT THE DOOR price?? (how much cheaper are the 2005ss i saw low as 25k being posted hear...if it is really 5k cheaper i would consider it..is the body style for 2005 different?)
thank you very much i really need to get a picture of how much i'm spending and some comments from ppl who own it and their experiences.

06 c230
Im just about to get rid of my 2003 v6 accord sedan and get the 06 c230. From what I know, The body is the same as the 2005 c230 Kompressor SS, the only main changes are the engine from a turbo I4 with 189 HP to a regular V6 with 201 HP and an avaliable 7 speed auto tranny. I was unsure whether to go for the 05 or 06 but I think I am goin 06 since the Leasing deals are around the same. The specials that you can get are depending on the state that you are in. But If you go to carsdirect.com you can price out a car with the options you want and see how much the cost would be in your Zip. Im a newbie too and this is my first post. Hopefully others can add more to my comments. Oh ya, I thought i saw something about the body style changing in 2008 but im not 100%, hope this helped.
The car I priced in AZ was with:
Bi xenon, sunroof, power driver seat, sirius and the auto tranny and it came out to just over 32000

wow good to hear from someone in the same position. yeah i'm also trying to deciede between leasing or buying but i think thats not important until i know more about the car and prices for out the door. going to call some dealerships to see if they even have 2005s left. i know they try to push them off the lot quickly. if there aren't any interior/exterior differences i don't mind having the I4 turbo.

The changes for 2006 are active headrests for whiplash, standard ipod intergration kit for radio, new engine of course, and supposed better build quality.
Xenon lights are important. Fold down rear seats are a must. I would want the goodies, like sunroof, entertainment or 6 disc, not that much more.
The new design won't come out for another year and a half. I would go with the 2006 as first year designs are proven to be way less reliable anyways. Why wait?
Not sure about incentives, but you can always deal. These cars aren't as popular as use to be. I've heard people getting 1,000 below invoice in San Francisco and California dealers. More supply there I guess.

I heard autmn 07 for the new body style
Gotta have xenons, hk, power driver seat is a must, and sunroof
On the 06 if you get auto you have to get the 7spd, which is a $1300 option
Because i chose the 05 over the 06 they gave me about $2500 off the sticker, and gave me my rims for cost
Really go and drive the v6....i honestly didnt like it
The dealer also told me this....could have been jsut a lie to get me into the car but they said "MB actually went to the V6 cause the i4 kompressor was costing them too much money to make especially since it was made by AMG" So that would make the 05 a good thing
Plus if the body style changes 07 the last year of a body style has a worse resale value. Thats what 2 MB dealers told us when my dad sold his 420sel that was 2 years old and only had 6k miles on it and we took a huge loss on that cause the new one came out right after the year we had

1) MY 2007 will have a new body style. Will probably be available in mid 2006.
2) This all depends on what options YOU like. Also, if you're only going to keep the car for a few years, you should consider options that will help your resale value.
3&4) Not sure on options for 2006. Since they are out though, you should be able to negotiate a good deal on a 2005 if the dealer has it on the lot. Of course, this depends on how backed up they are on 05s. Maybe some others on the site can give you more specifics on this.

....have you consider the new Lexus IS? I have my 2005 C230SS for about a year but selling soon. If it snows in your area, then 230 ain't the right car. The C230 is just good for its looks, other than that...is just an average car.

standard headlights are fine
Are all of you guys half-blind? The standard headlights are great on this car. They are bright, have good coverage and I clean cut-off. (Just because you have brighter headlights it doesn't necessarily mean that you can see further than you would in daylight). It seems so many people want the Xenons because how it looks from outside the car.
I'd put money into the NAV system before headlights.

Comand just makes the interior of the car look pretty, it's absolutley useless.

wow thanks for the help guys. ipod integration would be cool. i spoke with a dealership today fletcher jones to be exact. as usual they push you to come in so i'm going tommorow. so now the tough choice is '05 or '06 and buy or lease. buy or lease is just something i have to figure out really but i want to know some things before i go to the dealership tommorow:
1) on yahoo autos its listed the invoice is around 27k and the msrp 29k...now with auto and xenon what kind of out the door can i get? my friend said it may be possible to get like 28k out the door for the 2005. if the deal on the 2005 is significantly better i'll prolly end up with that one.
how do you guys think i should approach the service manager tommorow. and what kind of out the doors are you guys getting in california. thankkkks
p.s. don't live in a snowy area and will give the IS a look. thanks guys.
p.p.s. xenons looks sexy

You might want to search this forum. All of your questions have come up numerous times. You will get your answers tonight instead of waiting for a reply that may not arrive until sometime later; a day or 2 or 3, etc..

wow after reading many posts and talking with many people i'm as confused as ever. it seems people can get as low as 25k for a C230 in california. i really want to hustle the dealerships tommorow by knowing my stuff. because they have a huge inventory and i know they are trying to push cars off the lot. i've deceided that if the 05 is cheaper considerably i will probably go with that.
in fact i've been reading that many ppl prefer the 05 even in performance categories. ipod integration would be good but not for 2-3k.
when i called the dealership they said the 05 and 06 have no price difference but i think she was definetly innacurate in this. any thoughts?
finally after all the fees and taxes and everything how much did you guys pay for minimum options. definetly want to hear from the ppl in california and especially anyone who bought a car from fletecher jones and their experience cuz i'm going their tommorow.
thanks wish me luck

2006 c230
Well the 06 230 performance specs are out on the mbusa website now. 0-60 in 8.0 seconds for the manual (8.5 seconds for the 7 automatic). Not a big difference from the 2005 230 7.5 for the manual (8 for the automatic).
