Lights finally on...
Thanks to Steve/Dean at MbenzNL for the parts. I finally converted my 7 pin connector 2005 stock harness to a 6-pin pre-04 connector. These now fit perfectly into the LED tail lights.
I still have to take pics with the brake lights on. I do realize the inner running lamp is dim. This is because it utilizes a smaller bulb for some reason. When I have time, I may run down to the auto parts shop and try and find a brighter bulb for the inner lights. (The outer light is actually the correct intensity when comparing it to the stock lights)
As for the LED's turning on as running lights, I just disconected one wire running up to he LED pad. There's a wire starting from the bottom running light which connects to the upper brake lights. This wire is connected via a plastic harness along with a ground wire. I just pulled out the wire connecting the two and taped it with electrical tape.
I have lost functionality of my rear fog lamp. However, no error messages have appeared yet.

then that is freaking AWESOME!!!...if you can take pictures of what you did to the wire that you disconnected it be great for future buyer of these lights. I for one want to get a set in the future to update the look of the car.

OK, after taking the car out tonite, I noticed the outer lights are way too bright. I guess when I was comparing in the day time, it looked ok. However, at night, it lights up as bright as the normal filament brake bulbs would light up. I may have to look for different bulbs for that outside one. Here's a pic at night... not a good one.. but the LED's are really bright...
As for the wiring in the back.. it's pretty straight forward if you have a pre-04 car... just plug and play. The '05 isn't tricky..it just takes time to figure out what wire goes to where.
As for disconnecting the LED's from coming on as running lights...(don't get scared by the messy wiring in the back. I know it looks ugly but I could care less as it's all covered up with the carpeting)
The red arrows show the green/white wire starting from the bottom/inner running light. It then makes it's way up towards that white harness that you see. This harness came with the lights. I just disconnected it and you can see the dark green electrical tape I put over it. Easy as that.
Hope this helps.

awesome... now I know what to expect
did the outer bulb light up that bright because you disconnect the cable? or was it like that even before you disconnected the cable?

The inner ones shouldn't come on at all with the running lights. They are the foglamps. And typically in the US only the left rear will light up. So it appears you still have a wiring issue since you stated that you lost that functionality.

Thanx for the update Frank.
1) Would that therefore mean that the inner left running light on 05s have a dual filament bulb in order to act as a rear fog lamp?
2) Would/should that functionality even exist without mods since this aftermarket LED setup was based on/configured for 01 -04.
Would be interesting to see a schematic to see if it can easily be moded to maintain the respective MYs setup/functionality.

some slow@$$diesels
some 203s (even pre 05s) came with 2 running lights per side...most pre 05s only came with 1...it is a variable setting in the rear SAM module - but as almost non of the pre 05s have the second bulb wired up, the setting change doesn't do much.
As for these LED tails - my wild guess would be that the outer runnung lights are dual filiament and are meant to function as foglight as well and that the inner bulbs are single filiament and ment to be just driving light...or maybe the outer ones are only single filiament and only suposed to function as foglight...
Currently your outer running lights DO light up as foglights...
greetingz,

question:
so if the 01-04 inner bulb are the same single fliament bulb (same volt and watt) can we just run our own wire from the outer bulb to the inner bulb to make them both light up?? perhaps some soldering will be involved.

Ok...so tonight I ran down to checkers. I purchased a pair of Sylvania bulbs #97. I replaced this for the outer lights and it looks much better. I took a look at the bulb I was replacing...and it was only a single filament.
Here's what it looks like now...
There's still that issue with a few LED's missing as noted in previous postings. There's like one or two spots on each side (identical mirror image) missing from each side. Kind of weird.
Overall I really like this mod.
Hope this helps anyone looking to buy these...
