They look great MJ . Have you seen them smoked as well, like on greg's car? Even better look for darker cars, IMHO.

Put in my taillights during my lunch break (took ~ 1 hr for install and light operation check).

Just some FYI's for anybody that does get these and plan on DIY, but have never taken apart rear carpet / plastic trunk lining:

1) There are 12 pushpin clips that need to be removed
- 4 round (2 Left side, 2 Right side)
- 8 rectangular - in plastic trunk guard (use small flathead screwdriver to pull up)

2) There are 4 hex nuts that need to be unscrewed/unbolted in order to pull the taillights out

3) The carpet lining does not need to be pulled completely away, but the plastic trunk guard does need to be taken off. Be sure to take off the plastic surround (surrounds the trunk latch) before lifting the plastic trunk guard.

Other than that, this a pretty simple DIY. I can't remember what size wrench I used, but once you get the right one, all the screws for the taillights are the same size.

Now, a question for those of you that do have these, did you guys notice that there are slight fitment issues with these compared to OEM? In other words, they have a little more gap in the cracks compared to OEM.

First of all, when your cousin Jose aka Flipachu installed mine, he didn't remove my trunk liner or plastic trunk guard. He was literally laying in my trunk doing the install, which is where he got the nickname Trunk Monkey. The gaps should be completely eliminated by pushing at each of the corners and tightening. This is where I stepped in and gave Jose some assistance.

LOL...Yup, I figured Flip would do somethin' like that. Yeah, you could do that also, but I just wanted to make sure that I didn't break anything and give myself some room to work with (without having to pull Flip's trunk technique).

Either way will work. I couldn't really see how the brakes look because of the daylight, but I'm sure I'll notice more at night.

BTW...for those that are interested, my I'm selling my OEM's for relatively cheap (100 + shipping or highest offer) in the Classifieds.

I knew this would come up sooner or later . Yeah the process isn't bad at all. Once I did the left side, right side went in 5 minutes.

Lol.. cousins.. hell it's probably true. 'Tang-ina :\.

LOL...most likely. Hell, there's always one way or another that Filipinos can end up to be related.

That's pretty impressive, flip. Actually, now that I think of it, if I didn't take off the plastic trunk guard and take out all the clips, it probably took around 5-10 to swap the lights.

Did you guys notice a slightly bigger gap in the crevice between the taillight and the body of the car?...or am I just being too ****/critical about it?

I came across these on ebay tonight. So far I've only seen the w220 tails that fit up to '03. I remember in a previous post that the wiring harness was different between the '05s and the '03s. It states in the auction that it's for 2001-2006!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCE...spagenameZWD1V

I'll give them a call tomorrow to find out for sure. Any of you guys know anything about the wiring pattern differences between '03 and '05?

Thanks.

If it is only the clear non-LED version it will fit on 01-06. It is the LED version that has different connector head for the 05-06 vs the 01-04. The LED version are compatible with the 01-04 only unless changing the connector heads.

I need to check em out in person, you're the only one I know with the LED's and I don't think the current pics online show them all too great...

Here's a link serving as a reference for those who want to use these lights with the different connectors on the '05. Hope this helps. mj...your car is looking good!

Damn! Last night, I was finally able to see the lighting a little more clearly and I saw that the bottom left bulb (left taillight) and bottom right bulb (right taillight) were not lighting up.

I thought that maybe it was a problem with the bulbs. I took my OEM bulbs out and put them in the new taillights. Still the same problem. I'm about to take these things out and wait for a response from the seller.

I'll let you guys know, if this ends up being a more difficult transaction than it needs to be. The seller's initial email was asking me to return the parts, but there's NO way I'm paying for shipping on these things if they're deffective.
