popping out of gear

popping out of gear
The other day, I was accelerating in 2nd gear, then all of a sudden, it pops out of gear to neutral. Yesterday this happened again in 1st gear. I have a 01 240 6speed. It only has 40k miles on it. Does anyone know what would cause it to pop out of gear like this?
Thanks
Thanks

BTW
Isn't it time for you to carry a can of 'fix-a-flat-temporarily' since you replaced your spare with a sub and therefore had to call RA. But you did manage to come back with a very well thought out counterpoint = credit points.

If you are absolutely certain that it does not pop out of gear because your hand is resting on it (and pulling it out as a result) - take it to the dealer. But be prepared to hearing their request to have it reproduced before their eyes.
I had it happen on me a couple of times (within the first year of ownership), but I attribute it to lazy shifting (not enough effort to switch into proper gear - by trying to do it by just a flick of a finger). It has never recurred once I "learned" the gearbox. So, there!

You should never drift in an automatic transmission. Did that years ago in an old Buick and blew the transmission seals. Well, I didn't actually blow the transmission seals, they blew all by themselves.

yea, i have a manual tranny...and it pops out of gear after it has been engaged and I have already accelerated in that gear, so I guess i'll have to bring it to the dealer.
