Wow...not a pretty site to see your car in that condition. Hope all goes well with the rebuild.
Any damage to the other vehicle (Volvo)? Was the other driver pissed or injured?

Doug,

Sorry to hear about that... Thats pretty harsh. These pics show much more damage than the ones on the camera phone.

You do have to say, at the end of the day... the car held up pretty well and at least it can be repaired. Hope your deductible is not too high.

Also, I see no reason why you can not persuade a 05 bumper rather than the older. If not, ask to pay the difference... Its probably about the same price, just a difference of what numbers they plug into the order form.

Also, you should be able to get a loaner car. MBSD had my coupe for 5 weeks, i had a loaner the entire time...

Keep us informed on your situation...

P.S. if your Bi-X's are "re-usable" let me know, I'm definatly interested!

Slight damage, i pushed her into the car infront of her. She was upset, like crying, not really pissed. She did get out of the car yelling "could you go any faster?"

i dont know if MBSD body shop will do it. when i mentioned it yesterday to them, he was like, im going to stop you right there. when it comes to swapping out parts, it gets complicated. so i dont know.

i talk to steve and he has an entire 05 front end that i can buy, but the body shop doesnt seem to want to go along. i wish they would. steve said the 05 strips with PTS holes will fit my sensors fine. man i wish i could pull some mods out of this deal.l

Doug, they may be more willing if you can compile as much step by step information as possible and provide it to them. In that case, all they would need to do is follow instructions. I wish I could help, but I haven't done a conversion and since mine is a sedan, there may be some differences.

depending what insurance company you have, you can request the check to go directly to you. Then you could specifically say that you want the 05 bumper.. and you know it can be done. We've seen it done.

They will do it. Any body shop will, its just a matter or "wants" and lazyness that prevents them.

take it to a certified bodyshop if MBSD doesn't want to do the upgrades for you. I know a shop that does a good job, but it's in the San Gabriel area.

i was rearended on monday on the way to work, but nothing to citrons extent. My accident was dual fault. I was purposly hit, by a road raged mid life crisis ego blown guy in a old *** mini-van. Forutnaly it was a scratch, that well, i can only see.

a response from my Body Shop Advisor:

I understand your point of view on this subject; however, I am unable to do any modifications. As a Mercedes-Benz dealer we have agreed to restore the cars to there factory condition. I am sorry, but I am not able to accommodate your request. Please know that if there is anything else I can do to help.

I responded I hope I can still keep my PArktronic! He says he can order the Euro Impact Strips with the holes. I dont know!

Though some good news, I am getting both BiX to keep!

OK, stupid question. If the car is free and clear why can't they get the parts you want. Afterall you had them installed and hopefully advised your agent on these changes. if this is true than wouldn't they have to restore it to its pre-oops condition instead of the of the boat delivery condition. I'm sure that Steve, sorry if I stepped on your toes here, would provide you with the necessary pruchase paperwork to prove your case.

Sorry about the crash, Doug. It's great to know that it was one of those live-and-learn moments as opposed to those live-and-learn-with-(insert physical injury here) moments. :p

So you have an 03 car? If there's not much left on your warranty, and you would really like to get that 05 bumper, I would go to another body shop. I just don't believe in "certified," simply because getting a certification doesn't seem to mean so much anymore. I've yet to hear of a body shop losing its certification for a bad job; if it meant so much, they'd put effort into pleasing you.

Also, as someone mentioned, other body shops will probably be better about it in terms of claims amounts, whereas this body shop seems to be so tight-laced about things that they won't even entertain the thought of helping you out with your insurance. My only real point of concern of going with another body shop (besides the time and effort asking around to find a good, affordable one in your area) is that, while they will do their best with color matching, this body shop is likely to have direct access to your color paint. And I know how you like your Citron Green. If they just try color matching though, just dump them. There's no advantage otherwise (besides the "certified" work).

the passenger side lense is cracked. the driver side top mount bracket is busted. the bulbs do work. i turned them on just after the accident which shows the bulb and ballast are ok. they are giving me the headlights so that will be ok i can make some money one the bulbs and ballast i guess. i would really like the 05 bumper just because i think it will really look nice and different with my other 05 mods.
