I ended up just picking up the fitted one from the dealer for my coupe. It's pretty nice, made from NOAH with embroidered emblems (and a storage bag). Only downside - for $200 bucks you think it would come with a cable and lock.

There's a lot to be said for the fitted covers (as opposed to the generic ones), they tend to hold on a lot better in the wind. My friend had a less-expensive one that fit like crap and would blow off in the wind. I had a fitted one for my Acura that blew off only once in twelve years (and it's entirely possible that the campus cops of my alma mater didn't refit it properly after checking for my parking permit).

i am considering getting a car cover for my c230k because i have no garage and its black so i am tired of 2 drops of rain ruining the finish everytime i clean it. do you guys recommend the benz one? or should i get an aftermarket? also where can i get the benz one for cheap? thaks guys!

Would you believe that I bought the MB cover, fits perfect, on ebay for $119.00 new. MB wants $195.00. Guess it pays to surf. look here and a least see the MB version.

I was thinking about OEM Mercedes cover for coupe but wife specifically objected any MB ensignia on the cover. So I ordered Noah (same fabric as MB OEM) cover from www.carbytes.com. For $160 it was cheaper, too.

Upon arrival I realized how bulky it was (comparing to Weathershield cover I got before for my MR2) and exchanged it for Weathershield fabric ($260 cost for C230K). Another advantage of Weathershield fabric is it can be washed in a regular washing machine.
All those covers are actually made by Covercraft by the way.

List members, yesterday I spent two hours cleaning my coupe and then put the MB cover on, this morning I have a thin layer of dirt over the car.

How do you clean your MB car cover? I could not find the cleaning instructions and was thinking of taking it to the dry cleaners.

I think the instructions are actually printed on the cover on one of the tags. Something like machine wash with 1/3 cup of Fantastik. I guess they want you to use a realatively mild liquid detergent so that the water repulsive qualities of the cover are maintained - I don't know if dry-cleaning will screw this up or not. By the way, do it in a laundramat - why soil your home washer with bird crap and such.

you can't wash it at home, unless you have a washing machine without an agitator. the instructions are on the little booklet/piece of paper that came with the cover. you have to buy the chemical agent they list in there.

i'll be parking my car outside eventually, and i'm looking for a cheap car cover. i don't know how often i'll use it cuz i'm kinda lazy, that's why i don't want an official 200 dollar mb one. looking for something average and good priced. any suggestions or just go with the costco generic one? this is for the sedan.

those generic ones never fit right. try one of the ads in the back of popular car magazines, get a custom fitted one.

Personally I would never use a car cover. All they end up doing is trap the dirt under your car and rub scratches into your paint as the wind blows at it.

I'd rather just go through the trouble and wash my car once a week as opposed to washing it every 3 weeks but scratching up my paint.

And let's not even get into car cover theft.

Yeah I bought the costco car cover for my 2002 C240. Forgot what brand it was but I think I got the large size. But make sure you write your name all over the car cover because my car cover was stolen about 1 week after I bought it.

Works fine for me!

I also have it under a canopy and only put it on when it's very very clean. Once it's dirty, no point.
Wind and theft aren't a problem for me, and mainly it's the cars driving by that seem to kick up the dirt when it's parked, so I use the cover for several days after it's washed and then not.

Just think you could get 4 of these stolen before it would add up the cost of the MBZ one. And what do yo get?
Well the mirrors tuck into those little things.
And for real the material is supposed to be better.
Even at JC Whitney, they sell the same type of cover for about the same price. Bah! It's just a cover.

I use the Noah cover available from all MB dealers. Unfortunately, I can buy that across the counter at any dealer for about the same $180 that our poster above is asking. A fellow MBCA member here in my area is offering one for $100, and I'm tempted to buy it as a spare.

We use ours ALL the time; our condo garage has open air at both ends, so dust and debris are problems unless the car is covered. I've used Noah covers on all of our recent cars with good results.

What is everyone using as a car cover?

I had a custom Evolution 4 cover for my last car and it was great, but it was so bulky that it took a lot of space in the trunk. Has anyone used a Tyvek cover? I only need to cover the car when I'm at work, to prevent meltdown in the Florida sun, and Tyvek's combo of lightweight and small stowing size are a huge advantage. But the advantage goes out the window if it the cover is going to beat my car to death in the wind.

Need advice please.

Since moving to a condo in Vancouver WA, that has a large underground garage which is open to the air at both ends, I use our Noah cover all the time when the car is parked at home.

Evo4 and Noah strike me as either the same, or very close - I've owned both. In any case, I can recommend the Noah cover, but yes, it is bulky when rolled up.

Frankly, I have reservations about any cover in an area that is constantly windy. The potential for more harm than good is real - no cover can be used unless the car is squeaky clean all the time. Ours is, because I'm a fanatic, and the car gets "spritzed" and toweled or feather-dusted before each use of the cover. In a windy, outdoor situation, I see nothing but potential trouble, no matter what the cover material.

For situations where the car sits outside for more than a couple of hours, I use our cover, but ONLY if there is not significant wind.

There are so many car covers that I just don't know which one to use? What do you guys use and why? The one at the dealer sounds nice but it costs $208 buck. Damn! So let me know what you guys use, where you got it and for how much?
